is this worth sinking time into?

hi there, i am relatively new to bd and dont have much experience with it nor any other mmorpg apart from maybe runescape classic if that counts. i would like to have a time sink and figured this looked pretty cool so i should try it out. so i want to know if this is something that is still active and fun to play or am i throwing shi* at a wall? simply thats it, thanks.
