Is Intel Core i7 4510u good for gaming?
That processor is good enough for minecraft, league of legends, world of warcraft and other lightweight/old games.

How good is Nvidia GeForce 840m?
The Nvidia GeForce GT 840M works as advertised. It handles “entry-level gaming” and HD videos well.

BDO is not a entry level gaming experience neither a lightweight/old game,

Ive got a decent pc running the game at a mix of high to medium settings and let me tell you, i dont need any other heating systems in my room during the winter ^^

BDO aint demanding. Its just coded crappy.
Your system is strong enough, to play it (not the best naturally).
    Im playin on an i3 6100 16gb ddr4 and a RX570 and im peaking at 150fps.
So much for "neither a lightweight/old game".
Its a Laptop, thats your problem.
No room for real air circulation.
Remove the bottom of your laptop, or at least get a cooling stand for it.
Also keep in mind, that the 840m is only on paar with a desctop GT 640.

As you can see in the link, you GPU card isn't even recommended to play 1600x900 games (yellow collor).
Memory is DDR3 and the base clock is considerably low (1029 MHz).

I also play Black Desert on a notebook, Nvidia 940MX, and I can't picture myself acquiring a gaming computer soon due to the pandemic situation in my country. For specs like mine and your I recommend playing fullscreen, optimal mode (as you already play), turn off all graphic features within the game, and under the tabs:

Settings > Display > Display Settings > turn on "Upscale".

All those settings will make your game look like it is being powered by a potato, but at least will provide you more FPS and hopefully will demand less from your machine. Also, consider playing always on flat surfaces and if possible, elevating your notebook a little bit from the table, providing space for air to flow more. Sometimes I even turn off my notebook and place it in front a fan for a few minutes for it to cool down completely.

But remember, playing BDO in it's minimal requirements will demand you a gaming computer.
