This is a thread on Classing and Critiquing Graphics/art.

In this thread you might find some aspects of Lies' Guide on Classing,but this is the solemn purpose of it hence me and Lies. have decided to fuse our threads into a greater one.

Starting off
What are we classing?
The main aspects of a signature and/or art would be:

Color Scheme Are the colors easily visible, make sure they don't hurt your eyes, does it give the art its "tone"? Analogous or complimentary.

Flow Direction the Eye is drawn towards, usually beginning at some form of Light source.

Contrast Make sure the colors aren't too bright nor too dark.

Focal/Render/Stock how is the main image of focus incorporated in the art, is it recognizable, is it clear?

Lighting Light source? does it compliment the Focal/flow?


Rules

For now,only the members of the Graphics team are allowed to Class the Graphics/Artwok.
EVERYONE IS ALLOWED TO POST THEIR SIG/ARTWORK For other users to comment and critique,but at the moment only Me and Lies. are allowed to class it.
Don't be afraid to be a critic, but only critique someone on their artwork if they ask for it, this is a pretty big community, and you don't need to go around hurting people's feelings, so only critique if they ask of it in the title or the post.

Don't get lenient, you'll most likely never see a piece that's "Professional" here, so don't go around classing everything you see as "Pro".

Be nice, The stuff you will be critiquing is artwork, and people are usually proud of their artwork. If you have nothing to say/aren't going to critique properly, then don't post...Please.

Classes

This is what we will post in our actual Critique and these are also the levels of classes.

Beginner - This is the artwork that shows little characteristics.Needs improvements.

Sub Classes

Low Beginner "Low Beg"

Beginner "Beg"

High Beginner "High Beg" This class might fall under "Low Novice"

As you can see the signature lacks flow,the light source is not very well set up and the text is not blending in well.But it does show characteristics.

Novice - Signature shows some signs of flow,and a general color scheme,slightly noticing some depth.

Sub Classes

Low Novice - Might also be High Beginner

Novice - a.k.a "Solid Novice"

High Novice - Might also be Low Moderate

As you can see the color scheme is getting better,some signs of flow appearing and the depth is working in well.

Moderate - Obvious signs of flow, color scheme, and incorporation of focal.

Sub Classes

Low Moderate - Low Mod, also known as High Novice

Moderate - Solid Mod, or Mod

High Moderate - Loosely Known as Low Intermediate

Intermediate - Exceptional incorporation of flow, color scheme, smoothness/sharpness, and generally looks great (Most of the people who do art for free on the internet, that look good, are at this stage.)

Sub Classes

Low Intermediate - Low Inter, High Mod

Intermediate - Inter, Solid Inter

High Intermediate - ALMOST Semi-Pro , but not quite there.

Semi-Professional - Highly unlikely to see here. At this stage, freelance work maybe done, EXTRAORDINARY skills.

Professional - Best of the best, they get paid to do Art. Ex. Magazine Designers.

I think that signature looks very nice,
How the animal.. sonic guy has that kind of aura around him and the background itself seems to be a part of it..

 

Ohh.. have to add some of my own...

Well here is a few of my old signatures that i made quite some time ago...
And if u wonder, Ayano is a name i used before.
EDIT : Ah, back then i didn't know what flow and the like was so i made it however i liked ^^

wanted to do a vector signature, though I find this somewhat lacking/flawed somewhere but i just can't pinpoint where oTL

Seems kind of 'off' to me idk, maybe cuz of all that space in the mid

 

I'd Class these somewhere between Beginner and High Beginner.
They are nice and well thought of,however most of them are too bright,and too blurry.There is no light source and as you said no flow ^^.However I am pretty sure your class is higher than that hence I know what kind of signatures u make nowadays :3

First one is Novice and the second one would be Mod/High mod.The first signature lacks flow and a light source,and its kind of bi colored.Don't like the white circles.However the second signature seems like a whole new level.The flow is great and the colors are very well matched and blended in,so is the render.Honestly,I love the second one.

I rate you novice - moderate in this artwork.. got a talent haha it looks fine for me. but I agree with Agitated's comment.

 

First one was an experiment into vectors, although it seemed i did it wrong ^^;

New tags:

"Chastise"

Was aiming for a 'refreshing' theme but the more warm colors I put in, the more I liked it so..
Looked better without text but I dunno, just personal opinion


"The Magician's Arsenal"

A practice signature on composition and lighting effects.
I personally think that the text ruined the balance, but I still need to hear others' opinions

i check em all... and THEIR GOOOOOOOOOOD except the one with the guy

 

I prefer simple things, they are the best. ^_^

I don't spend much time in my sigs, cause i have workt to do so, great job for all
