What's Serious Discussion ultimately about?

The thought of it just popped into my head, especially after some responses by the staff considering Serious Discussion's nature (Ashtar and Azmodius for example.)

Yes, I know that the topics can get nauseating/revolting/offensive/etc. sometimes, but that's just how life is.

We see people raped, smuggled, left for dead by the pavement almost everyday, and some of us will try and help to their best capacities.

Unfortunately, most of us don't/won't/can't. That's why we have this private space to express what we feel, and see how others think about it (Do they share my views? What's interesting about his or hers?...)

Of course, since the world isn't all roses and sprinkles, there are things that aren't pretty or light-hearted enough to be read by all of us, including those of the minor community.

But I believe those who browse Serious Discussion are mature enough to read through, understand, and hopefully come up with something that might apply to their lives.

We certainly haven't not been, and never will be expecting minors to come in here and have to be offended by the contents we have here in Serious Discussion.

The world is not rainbow-colored. It's also in black, white, and shades of gray.

TL;DR: Please make SD off-limits to minors, Lautaro. Thank you.

P.S: I know that my latest thread title wasn't appropriate enough for serious debates, and I apologize for it, Ashtar.

Well.. such threads might not really be offending anyone but they are as u already know , inappropriate for children.
A thread is not going to help in reducing the smuggling/raping/etc IMO...
The Kids read every Serious Discussion thread because they want to feel cool , mature.. you know. And because they find the conversations related to sex funny/entertaining/cool/etc. We live in 2011 brah :D
The previous thread's title was not right as u said , but that's not why the thread was locked by ashtar lol.
Oh and it is impossible to make the Serious Discussions thread non-readable by underaged people.
Even if he makes it invisible for underaged people and for guests who are not logged in , they will just change their age to read it. Of course the 10,11,12,13 years old kids are not all immature. Regiix3 for example is 12 years old and she's as mature as a 16-17 years old person is i think :p The "cool" however , watch p*rn on the web because their parents are careless so such threads won't harm them , i realize that. They even hear worse things than these on the news :p
We just try to follow some rules to prevent people from ending up speaking about those things all day as it's the only things they think about at their age >.>

All I'm suggesting is that: make SD off-limits to minors.

If they decided to cheat their birth date? Tough luck, they have no rights to complain about the contents then.

The thing is that some conversations can lead to unexpected situations such as perhaps someone that has gone thru something similar and reads something that might mentally affect them.

Also some conversations based on group age are not appropriate.

It's not that your previous topic wasn't interesting and important but if you had elaborated a little more and then posted your link, it might have gotten a different sense of importance, rather than just saying "some people need to die".

Serious conversations are simply meant to have an important and serious content with a level of seriousness that adults and perhaps minors can comprehend.

At least that's how I personally see this forum section.

Our forum is not adult-orientated therefore topics of an 18+ nature are not allowed here. Snuff is considered pornography and is 18+ only.

Just to add to this part of your comment,

see the top section on the forum where the latest topics show? anything that has an attractive topic it will be clicked on and trust me, something like mother**** fu**** will attract people to click on it, that includes curious minors.

This is just a tip. When you make a serious thread, give it a serious title.

And I apologize for not having elaborated on it.

Still, the defending statement about "age groups" doesn't seem to hold water to me.

    Last sentence. Original Post.

The majority of our members are 14-17 year olds so adult orientated material is not allowed on our forums.

What adult-oriented material are you speaking of?

Generally defined, that's the equivalent of calling out pornographic content.

We all know enough to not post porn in any forum.

Rape, murder, child molestation, suicide, anything that children or anyone underage should not read about, at least not coming from us, the community.

Your link was to an article about snuff films and children. Not only was it of an extremely disturbing and depraved nature but it is also completely inappropriate topic of discussion for this forum.

and also informative, at least in my own jurisdiction/thinking.

Because (and only because) it's in the form of a news article, which was proven cleaned and correct, did I post it here.

I wouldn't do it otherwise, knowing the nature of the mentioned subject.
