Myths from your City/Country

    Have you ever heard your parents or grandparents mention about something that makes absolutely no sense or whatsoever? any myths related to your hometown or country? I'd like to know what kind of freaky and wacky myths go around in other places.

    Here are some of mine.

    - Women: if they cut the tip of their hair and go under the rain on the first rain of may, their hair will grow longer and longer through the rest of the year.

    - Men: If you have sex with an older woman when you're a teenager, your penis will peel and/or fall off.

    - Women: Putting Salvia and eggs on your hair and keeping it on for a few hours, will stop hair loss.

    - Town story: There was once a man in a carriage that used to pick up kids and steal them to eat them. He was caught by the local folks and he was hung. Now his ghost roams every full moon right at midnight searching for any kids out in the streets. (People say they can still hear a carriage pass by at midnight during full moon)

    story about a lady that drowned her kids and now goes around the streets of Mexico crying and screaming "mis niños.. mis niños"(my kids.. my kids)
    a myth to scare little kids so they dont go outside after dark and get drowned by la llorona

    Supposedly my hometown got it's name from a robber's loot buried around here.

    Midsummer offers a lot of "spells" for finnish people, most revolving around finding your future husband(/wife). For example: Pick 7 flowers from 7 fields and go to sleep with the flowers under your pillow and you'll see your future husband in your sleep.
