i think we aint talking about that particular person , his story is a good example to all of us gamers , to take care of ourself and to be aware of the danger that excessive gaming brings. Like a big exclamation sign , for us to see x.x

I keep logging in and out too much for it to be accurate. Been a while since it has reached higher than 2-3 hours.

If you need someone to die just to wake up and find out that this was a problem and had it's risks... heh.

There is that. But how many young people go "Bloodclots are old people's problem. I'm still young!"?

just using this case as an example.

    Edit:

There was news from my tiny hometown yesterday. 2 guys, 26 and 28, jumped from a 30 meter high bridge and died. Don't know the reason, but apparently there has a rash of people jumping from bridges all over town, as a dare or show of manliness of whatever. Were they suicidal? Who knows. Were they too stupid to realise that 30m drop to water is about as deadly as 30m drop to ground? Maybe.

From your point of view, about 50 people should die of different reasons just to have a healthy life.

sure this very sad event to see a young youth dyeing but blaming games this is too much

its like saying hay the car killed him not the driver of the car

like if someone killed by drowning in the sea and if you ask y !! .. his father will say he did not try to swim

in that case did the sea kill him ??

I find it kind of sad that everyone took up to this topic but ignored more intetesting things like factitious disorder, now that... that is interesting xD!

Too many people overestimate their capacity and blame it on "age".

There is always an exception to every "rule". And the "rules" are set by articles and research that is still being done, often times on potentially shaky grounds and with crude estimates... even with all of our elaborate statistics and mathematics behind it to "prove" its value to the public and its "truth".

Is that another way of telling how much of an idiot that guy was? If yes, then I agree with you. xD
Meh, people these days forget that the reason for a human to die are also... humans, so they blame the things HUMANS made.
Also there are people that need to be afraid of something, just to live healthily (If this word actually exists, if it doesn't... I created it now), so most people have to see/hear of someone who died because of "x" factor just to change their behavior and the way they live life, since they can't think for themselves "this is going to kill me one day".

Gaming has been blamed always. It may be part of cause (the guy wouldn't have been sitting that long without the console, maybe?), but it's not like the console came alive and killed the guy.

Games and gaming are blamed for all sorts of acts of violence.. Guy shoots another guy, oh no he has been playing too many shooting game and people ignore the fact that he maybe a bit unstable mind. Guy beats up another guy into a wet smear on the ground, oh no too many violence games. Did anyone check the steroid levels on his blood?

Hell, I'll go run around the town in rainbow colored clothes and randomly hump people. I'll blame it on playing too much Hello Kitty online.

A more interesting spin on this article would be:

-Aiming and blaming, the parents fault or the games?

And then take studies of gaming and its effects on people and then contrast that with new studies of how many people believe gaming is really violent and then compare and nit pick the living piss out of them.

Ahhh.... now that is an article I'd read and enjoy.

It's not the game's fault , it's the ones that plays it . A game can't force u to play it ... u do it cuz u want to and it's up to u to set ur own gaming limits!
    Sad story tho'.

Where is the sad part? A guy died, there are tens of thousands that die every day across the Globe. This is one of the few that get media's attention. I don't see it sad, I see it pathetic.

Indeeeed. Sadly humans are very vulnerable to addictions as an entire species :<

You see though, this particular case was easily exploitable and will have every over-zealous pseudo-christian family buy it and view it...

Opposed to reading another documentary or article on how the kids in africa are starving... or how many countries around the world are doing massive homicides on homosexual populations to "purge" them.

    That stuff is "boring".

Oh, and it would require they actually write something aside from wikipedia non-truths and pseudo-medicine and paste what I swore was in articles I read on mmo-site about gaming...

So, yes, this article is "better", for the writers at least. Bet they were having a "wack-off" day.
