i bet he dont even have to work with the donations of all the servers.. i know people that has donated over 500 dollars in just one week... most koreans donate over 250 dollars(i asked).Add that gm dont receive money from being doing the work,wich it also kills some "effort" in gming
oh and you forget about he never anwser cause he is busy with developing like karissa said.Carl is actually someone we never see so dont expect an actuall anwser of him
but like its said this is not retail and never gonna be,and to be honest at least for a free service the staff should ban hackers,or the well known hackers at least we all know someone wich has over 10 reports and havent been banned yet and the name starts with "H" i dont wanna call corruption and quit the server still but seriously im getting tired of bs and that some gms say "we cant ban some people" .Or you can try to fix the lags and we can try to be happy even with hackers all around.

do you understand the money and power that goes into a server. a $1000 alienware wouldn't be able to host a 100 people. You need a custom built sever. With a server board that can handle more than one CPU, excellent cooling with water and radiators being the best option, other stuff that i do not wan to get into. Also, you have to take this to software too. Using RAIDs in server can provide at lot of extra performance when reading and writing data at fast passes. The NTFS formate is slow, gets fragmented a lot and is old. There are so many new formats that can provide better performance. Also, most or all servers and super computers run Linux. At blizzcon one of blizz's employees said that their retail wow servers run linux. Linux servers are fast, lightweight, and use any file system you want that are extremely fast, reliable, don't fragment and even offer other cool features that you can look up. I have seen private servers running linux and other servers running linux running for 1-2 years straight.

 

Linux is free, any server that runs without RAID was made by a retard, don't really see the point you're trying to make...

And Alienware DOES make servers, only you'd have to be stupid to get an Alienware server instead of building it yourself for a couple thousand less.. so yes, you have a point, an alienware PC that costs a 1000 USD will NOT be able to run Gamez Aion, let alone Crystal, Mu, and WOW at the same time...

 

You sir make an excellent point there. Hosting a server like this isnt just as easy and painless as most people thing, since there is so much to it, about the hardware setup.
