It's scary how music describes something so accurately sometimes.

not even done watching and already consider many of the arguments invalid

    1. they assume all poor people are low IQ which isnt necessarily true, they just have restricted access to education
    2. the size of the brain doesnt determine your IQ. tbh we only use like 10% of our brain anyway, its what u do with it as opposed to how big it is that determines intelligence
    3. the "de-evolution" picture with straight up man bending its back again as it did in the past but in front of a computer has nothing to do with decrease in intelligence. actually quite the opposite, technology can serve to enhance thinking and analytical abilities

Oh, and I found something for you too Smartik :p

    3. But most of us are so tied to the machine that we aren't bothering to look for any connections with other human beings anymore. Before long, we'll be...drones.

Even monkeys socialize more than we do.

they try to make a point based on irrelevant and misrepresented facts :p also trying to apply US statistics for the rest of the world

for example: in europe, statistically muslim families have way more children than other religions/atheists, it doesnt mean they are any dumber than us

the only valid point id say is the overall increasing world population (tbh has been increasing for centuries so nothing new really)

    Up up up.

And I believe they're specifically pointing their lyrics at the USA. You can tell by the music video.

lol about the article, have a few things to say

    1. not 1 person in the world has ever reached the full capacity of their brain. no matter what the actual % is, its not that high
    2. "Losing far less than 90 percent of the brain to accident or disease has catastrophic consequences" does not prove anything, it is WHICH part you lose and not how much of the overall that determines the consequences

imagine ur harddrive. u have 2tb capacity, u can delete 1.9tb and nothing happens, yet deleting a single 5kb system file and ur system wont start.

You can't compare your brain to a hard drive :/ No matter how advanced technology is, machines will never be able to replace humans in the thinking process.

You lose any chunk of brain and you will not function normally as everybody else.

Wait, I've just been blessed by the thanks of a future neurosurgeon.

Agreed with the IQ thing, and connections are what makes the brain good. Specifically scientists are thinking the depth of the sulci inbetween the gyri...

For example, many species have FAR bigger brains than us... but then you get to "lower animals" which have very smooth brains... no sulci or gyri (nor is there a split left and right hemisphere!). Then you get dolphins which have LOTS of sulci... but they are more shallow than ours.

So that brings up the conundrum... our cortex that represents 80% of our brain, a thickness of 1.5-3mm with 6 layers... that is absolutely fascinating to me :3

But the connections are very importaint, think of each neuron cell body as a hub... or computer... the more connections this hub/computer makes to others the better it can recieve and intercept information.

Think of it like... processors. They have a certain frequency output, and neurons do as well. The frequency of the message is oftentimes what a neuron will transmit (mindyou this is a TERRIFYING over simplification).

BUT I disagree 100% with 10% of brain.

Especially when you look into aphasia's, ataxia, and focalized brain damage.

10%-20%... more near 100%. The brain is very specialized in its functional area's.

Damage to hippocampus? Most likely will have some retrograde memory loss complimented by anterograde memory loss, severity depending on the extent of the damage.

Damage to the optic chiasm? Sight impairments.

Damage to brainstem? Lol probably dead.

Amygdala calcification? Most likely you will end up with urbach withe disease

Pituitary gland? Lets not even delve into the fun we could have on this one.

never say never, they r already very close, besides the fact that computers handled logical problem solving and calculations better than us for years, AI is getting more and more advanced

btw ur brain is split into sections devoted to different functions so yeah u can function without a chunk of some of them. there is no standard for a "normal" human behavior btw :p losing the front part of ur brain changes ur personality, doesnt affect thinking process
