Too many accounts hacked lately

I will QUOTE Someone from another thread that was close as information, because I have a Suggestion for the server.

I don't know where did you get the definition of bruteforcing an account, but that is actually stealing information with keyloggers, Not Bruteforce.

Bruteforce application is an application that connects directly to the Login servers of the game, the user just inputs a username and the application will spam the connection with username and passwords till one password goes through. It usually uses a Dictionary file with common passwords. Some Bruteforce Login application even work with proxys and can attack multi usernames, which means they can Hack multiple accounts at once...

Which means that Its no ones fault... The uprising in accounts hacked lately give the impression these may be the case, and since the admins don't do anything about hacked account and do not investigate this is the results. MY bet is that we will continue to see at least 2 to 3 cases of these a day or up to 5 or 6 a week... The things that concerns me is that this guys are actually VIP players that donate money for their stuff which also means that the server will get a DROP on their donations income and players who donate...

In my experience as an EX owner of PSERVER of WOW and Ragnarok this will continue and it will get worst if nothing is done.

My suggestion, change your hacked accounts policy and make a team of GMs for the special purpose of hunting this hackers down.

No problem Cuddly, its a common and misunderstood situation. But indeed this server has to change their Hacked Accounts policy...

I haven't had my account hacked, but if it was, I would be beyond pissed off. I can tell you that I'd ditch this game in a second since I know that nothing would get done about it. Especially for the VIP membership and other money I've dropped in the store. A bunch of my friends and I play games together, and if one of us leaves, then the rest are soon to follow and we flock to a new game. This is our current game and has been for about 2 months. Other than the mass zergs (which we're thinking of going to Lumiel to have a little more balanced class pvp), we're ok with the server. But a hacked account changes all of that.

 

Lumiel is worse than Siel for zergs now.

Aside from that, you have to remember that this is a PServer after all and you know that any time/money spent on this could go in an instant!
The server could get taken down tomorrow, next week or whenever so at the end of the day it is down to you what happens in-game and to your account.

If you don't want to get hacked, then make sure you take the proper percautions, the same goes for being scammed and stuff, Fraps the damn exchange or ensure that the person you are trading with is respected within the server.

People fall ill to mistakes and then blame the staff/admin for their own mistake.

I have had my account for over a year now, and i have never been hacked and/or scammed at all.

 

Scyth with all due respect... What does your comment has to do with this post? Ok you make your point that you never been hacked Congrats... Your username hasn't been the target yet, and sincerely I hope it never gets targeted. My point is that there are applications out there, and you could have a password compound of names, numbers, and Bruteforce attacks passwords from 4 to 8 characters long, Ive seen WoW Bruteforce Appz that go up to 12. How did I dealt in my pserver with it?? I tracked the IP, trades and IP banned all accounts involved in the situation. Its a LOOOONG job but at the end the Legit users where happy. The problem Im addressing doesnt have to do ANYTHING with mistakes from the legit users. But with a Policy that if you are hacked you are on your own, it opens the door to real hackers or at least (hacking application users) to target this server and make money out of it, or play and exploiting the game in other ways. Seen it happening in other servers like I said.

Even if you change your password like once a month you could be targeted since Bruteforce attack doesn't care about that, it just spams as many combinations as possible till one is done. And like I said its a suggestion and for what I see in this post its 3 on favor, what would be your real opinion about the suggestion and how to work stuff??? That is what I would like to know...

About the comment about Pservers, It is true that Pservers go down as easy as they come up, I give you that. Mine was up like almost a year, but due to hard work on college I couldn't do much, and my staff wasn't that good either (to be honest) but at least that kind of thing can be expected and people tend to leave. So damage is low and in that server I didn't ask for any donations for stuff... Donations where real donations with nothing given from me.

didn't come it to my idea EVER....its bcoz.....how come they can make a team of GMs when even in game theres no GMs online to help u with some problems or report some hackers coz u ddnt hav a recording program to video those haxors....so many speedhaxors there and still not solved by our good AMs/GMs ADMINS or whatever..


maybe their too lazy for their JOB

All i am saying is that if the user took the proper precautions then this software/application you speak of would not be needed.

I am not 'bashing' your suggestion, i personally think it would be for the best, it would make our accounts safer and more secure and would mean less issues on the forums in regards to accounts being taken.

But Gamez has a tendency to attract the wrong type of people, people who try to scam the staff out of gear/items/kinah etc by using cheap tactics like they have been hacked etc etc

Now i'm not saying that everyone does this, as alot of people might of just been generally attacked and had their accounts taken but i think that is why the staff enforce their rules in such cases.

 

i wouldn't say their lazy you can only do so much. that and with issues like speedhacking its really hard to catch unless you fraps them or the gm is there watching them do it in person. speedhacks bypass the server and game logs so when you whisper a gm/am without fraps its just your word against theirs nothing will do done without proof. if you see someone hacking hell just do what i do log on my sin pop shadow walk and start fraping them upload it to in-game reports on the fourms link the fraps and watch em get banned takes all of 5-10 minutes

 

If you have a problem with staff then you should PM the HeadGM or Carl instead of bashing them on the forums, all you will get is a ban.

 

LOL SHADOW WALK? u sure..how can u catch speedhackers when ur in shadow walk nab?.......thats y i wnt GM on to pm him/her so that he/she will the one who will fraps it coz they can reached at 12.0 speed even in hide........make sure of what ur typing bro

Well i can understand that part, and the fact you have been making posts all day asking for a GM... Let's hope more active GMs are hired to help the ones that already are because as you know, everyone has different timezones etc
