errr... i wonder how that guy got a license for motorbikes in the first place...

First: If you take someone on a bike that you love or merely care, you will make them wear a damn helmet... I wont fire up the engine if you dont use it

Second: Guy was a noob, hate the word but he earned it... you have 2 brakes on a bike, rear and front. So if one is broke down you have the other that can do the job by itself, trust me it can. And if both brakes failed (improbable but possible) the bike must have been in such a lame condition that just getting on with someone is damn stupid and utterly moronic. (for those that dont know, front brake is in right hand, and rear brake is on the right foot... yes, they are independent)

Third: You have no brakes?? Both? you damn sure?? ok... no sweat, force the gears down... to go at 100mph (160kmh) you need at least a 400cc engine... with that displacement the compression is enough to slow down the bike at those speeds if you gear down--- and if is an emergency you can gear down 2 gears, the gearbox will most likely broke down in the end, but i assure you that you can slow down under the barrier of 50mph (80 kmh)... and then gear down again... the bike will stop.

And finally... if you are at 100mph, on a straight line... the guy had the time to talk to the girl, get a hug, exchange the helmet... I will suppose that he was also avoiding cars... How did he do it?? at 100mph the wind is strong enough so you cant let you arm loose or put your body in a straight position for someone to take out your helmet (the whole process: unfasten it, take it off the head, that will left you with a second of no view (far more dangerous than a broken brake) and the girl even had the abdominal strengh to sit straight, lift her arms with a helmet over her head and put it on???? weird... maybe a fake history...

But if is true... he was a noob biker that had no right to go at those speeds and having the company without a helmet--- I dont think love is measured by the heroic deeds but by the care you take with the other to avoid crap like that. (plus a bunh of other stuff that dont make sense now)

No, since I honestly wouldn't put myself in a situation like this intentionally. Sure it's a cute story but it would of been a beautiful story if he wasn't intentionally going at that speed.

why "guess"? because i don't know if i can do something like that in that position, i mean c'mon it were the last few minutes in your life. and people are doing such fool things in every last minute. thats why i said "i guess" because i don't know if i had that courage to do that. but when i got someday a gf that i really love, then i can go for her in hell even only when she says "go for me to hell".

 

Yeah.. have to agree with the others very unrealistic situation and someone with no experience how to correct this situation wouldn't be going 100mph on a bike with his girlfriend whom he loved on the back without a helmet. Also as the others are stating, there are many ways to slow down the bike before it crashed and it seemed he had plenty of time to do so with the exchange of the words, hug and helmet. Downshifting, Letting go of the throttle, and all of that. So all in all he shouldn't have been driving 100mph on a motorcycle with his GF on the back without a helmet. He should have known the remedy and how to safely stop the bike or at least slow it down so the both survive. Not only that but a Motorcycle going 100mph hitting a wall of solid concrete isn't a situation where a helmet would likely even make a difference.

But in the unrealistic sense I'd say I would save the one I love if I could only save one of us. I suppose any man who loves someone more than anything and wishes to protect it would.
