Nvidia GTX 260

hi im haveing some truble with my new Card(Nvidia GTX 260) the problem is that i get ramdom crashes(my comp frezz and i need to restart it) and lag in games.

I heard some thing that this card had some problems with WIN 7 64b but i dont know

so mabey some one here can point me in the right direction

Hur många MB/GB har ditt grafikkort?
Jag kör själv GTX 260 1.2GB och har Win7 64bitar, och har inga problem alls.
Kan du förklara mer noggrant om vad som exakt sker?

thats the thing the drivers is up to date but the drivers dosent work with win 7 64b(atleast thats what i heard)

Datorn fryser fast och jag kan inte göra någonting och jag hör ett ljud(kan inte förkalar hur det låter) och jag måste starta om datorn genom att stänga av strömen

i know both the old and the newest driver from few weeks ago crashed (same like u described), i know there r sometimes issues of installing a driver over another so i went to device manager and uninstalled it completely. then i freaked out coz it didnt show an unknown hardware, just removed the graphics card completely, but when i restarted my pc, windows update downloaded the driver again and installed it properly. i didnt freeze since then (and yes the older driver is much better, windows update got the old 1 as well). i do recommend u get the bios update on the dell site (i guess depends on ur pc but its pretty new, im using A07 on my alienware m15x) since it adds more support and compatibility to hardware. hope this helps

i have gtx 260 and win 7 64 bit, and everythying works. Well it did crsh a few times... but thats not important now.

When i bought my pc, 260 was the newest card on market, I was able to run games at highest settings, but after a few days, it started crashing so hard, that i had to keep restarting my pc.
So i brought my pc to ppl who sold it to me and they found out, that my video card was broken.

I had to wait a few weeks to get it replaced, cuz in my country there were no cards like that left.

So if your pc is new, try contacting those, who sold it to you.

And drivers are working

 

um might be a little misunderstanding xD gtx 260 = desktop card, gtx 260m = laptop card, huge difference xD i just know i had the same issue with my laptop card as what he described and it works fine now so hoping it will help him too

 

It's obviously not the graphic cards fault and there's something in his computer that's about to puke

 

u dont know what ur saying btw most windows crashes r related to issues with a graphics card driver (specially laptop ones lol, i had a dell be4, alienware now which is a gaming branch of dell, both had issues with their graphics card drivers)

no its not just when i play aion as i said its random.

im gonna try what smartik said when my father gets home cuz hes the one that knows how to do this right so i dont mess up my comp

lol not sure which is better, physX with geforce or DirectX 11 with radeon xD but in terms of performance yeah ur radeon is better >.>

 

Try using a vista driver. Most Vista drivers will work on Win7.

 

vista fails and so do the drivers, if u head over to the site which checks compatibility with games on 64bit vista most things will say not while win 7 is xD anyways u really need the win 7 driver and if u remove ur current 1, windows update will get the right 64 bit driver and instal it for u

 

ok it worked!!!!! (i think) but im running on a standard driver so i cant play my games thats set to 1980x1024 now i can only go up to 1208+x720.

so can you tell me what driver your using so i can download that one and try if it works better with it.

 

Moderkortet hade jag problem med när jag lirade, jag vet vad jag hade för fel, men kunde inte laga det själv, så jag vart tvungen att skicka in till Komplett.se för lagning...
jag hade också GTX260, men spelet frös inte, jag fick blåskärmar

 

det händer ibland för mig men det är inte spelet som fryser det är hela datorn.
