aions reqs r pretty low for a desktop, most things would do

    Gamestops/NCSoft West requirements:

    Minimum System Requirements

    Connectivity: Broadband Internet connection

    DirectX: DirectX? 9.0c

Hard Drive Space : 15GB hard disk space

    Operating System : Windows XP SP2/ Vista/ Windows 7

Processor : 2.8GHz CPU or equivalent

    RAM : 1GB RAM

Video Card : NVIDIA 5900 Ultra with 128MB RAM / ATI Radeon x700 with 128MB RAM or higher

    Recommended System Requirements

    Connectivity : Broadband Internet connection

    DirectX : DirectX? 9.0c

Hard Drive Space : 15GB hard disk space

    Operating System : Windows XP SP2/ Vista/ Windows 7

Processor : Dual Core CPU 2.0GHz or equivalent

    RAM : 2GB RAM

Video Card : NVIDIA 6800 with 256MB RAM / ATI Radeon x800 with 256MB or higher

basically every desktop processor today is faster than 2ghz dual core and every graphics card on the market is above 256mb dedicated memory. they dont even manufacture weaker stuff anymore lol. 2gb ram is nothing as well

Aion has very low minimum requirements but if you want to play without lag "decently" you need a really good NEW PC.. My pc has 3gh processor amd64 dual core and 4gb ram with a new graphic card worth around 100 euro and it still lags. You need a more expensive pc to enjoy pvp. Especially in such a zergy server. Before..when i still had the same pc but my graphic card was an nvidia gt 8500,i better not tell you how bad it was. I was playing in.. ALL FULL LOW GRAPHICS! Everything full low,and it still lagged like fk every few seconds. So those minimum requirements are probably only for running the welcome screen of aion^^ cause this game is heavy as fk..

    LOL^^

I have played in other servers and it still lagged.

And if you explain to me how other people who record with fraps have zero lag (people from all over the world,philippines,usa,germany.. Then i ll accept that the lag is server sided. In my opinion you just need a hella good pc so it can handle loading up 20 people and their sets and details and all the buildings and npcs.. There is no other explanation cause i see videos of ppl who dont lag at all even with fraps on.. And one more reason that makes me believe that lag comes from our PC is that when i changed my graphic card i saw a huge difference, now i can play decently while before..i just couldnt..well but i still lag of course..

Seems like nobody here can distinguish between a graphical/processor lag and a ping lag.

    Oh my.

Lag can be many kinds of lags. If your computer specs are not as good to play AION, it will be lag as well in different way though and what he meant here is to play AION smoothly which means computer specs are very important as well :))

I was kinda pointing it at Smartik and Badrobot's debate, but you seemed to have grasped the idea too.

The recommended requirements will still make you lag like hell.

In my experience, Aion requires a good CPU.

No. You need a fairly decent PC to be able to play Aion smoothly without lag. It has absolutely nothing to do with the server - the only kind of lag the server is responsible for is latency. Which has nothing to do with game or client performance.

I built my desktop a few months ago and it cost me roughly $1,000 CAD - which included relevant components such as an i5 3.6ghz processor, 8gb ram, ocz agi 3 ssd and gtx 560 card. I play with zero frame-lag and actually manage to run two games at once (dragon nest and aion) without going over 50% RAM usage. Of course you can spend much less (I'd say around $600-700) and still get an equivalent gameplay experience out of a desktop, however I built my PC with the hopes that it will handle future heavyset MMO's such as TERA and Blade&Soul.

Sometimes, the latency happened is due to your own connection problem not the server.

Don't worry, BnS runs quite a bit smoother than Aion on HQ engine.

It's hard to discern whether Elianne was talking about machine performance or server latency, thus leading to your reply being a bit ambiguous also.

AFAIK, the only lag that should be associated to a private server is latency lag. The game engine doesn't change for different people, and it's crucial in this case to have a good rig in order to play Aion at high settings without any performance lag.

I didn't get what you were saying by "how private server works" :/

Don't shoot meh, I'm not trying to be a smartass, just needing clarification D:
