I helped fae with this a while ago and thought i should make a small guide about how to reduce the file size on raw video taken by fraps, without losing any quality.

Step 1: Download fraps (FRAPS show fps, record video game movies, screen capture software)

Step 2: Download Virtual Dub (Downloads - virtualdub.org)
    - Virtual dub is a portable app, it runs from the folder where ever you extract it)

Step 3: Download Xvid codec (Xvid Codec 1.3.2 <- Xvid Codec Downloads | Software - Digital Digest)

Step 4: Install Xvid (If it asks you if you want to associate with any file types, tell it not to)

    Step 5: Run Virtual Dub
    [IMG]
OR if on 32 bit windows -
    [IMG]

Step 6: Go to file, Click Open video file Then navigate to and select your footage.

Step 7: Once loaded click on the video button at the top and select Compression
    [IMG]

Step 8: Once in the compression menu, Select the Xvid Mpeg 4 Codec and Click configure
    [IMG]

Step 9: Choose your quality using the slider. I recommend 10. (or you can type it in the Box above the slider)
Once do that, click ok, and then click ok again.

Step 10: Now, click on File, Save as Avi. Choose your save location, and Two boxes should pop up. Wait for it to finish.

Once it's done, check the file size and of course watch the video to make sure it's still good quality.

Thank you for reading this guide and i hope it helps you all in your endeavors to report cheaters without wasting valuable
    bandwidth and time!

Edit: Did a sample 15 second clip to show you the size difference.

EDIT 2: Guide update with new links! I'm back finally =D

the link doesnt end in jpg/png (image file format) thats why, its not a direct image link, its a website link with an embedded image :p

    use these
    http://gyazo.com/aa380cfb873d5c439b023bff73515a71.png
    and
    http://gyazo.com/0ebc4e6d7212ce72c4d3ad78953ee645.png

u can always right click an image and click view image (firefox), takes u directly to the image url ^^

    anyways nice guide

personally i encode with a divx codec just coz its multithreaded, i have 8 virtual cores running at a lower frequency so its much faster for me, but u have to download it separately and change some settings coz it has screen proportion restrictions at first so urs is much simpler for most people :p

Just re-uploaded them over to imgur. Easier xD to be honest with this it takes me roughly 60 seconds to shrink a 60 second video. lol if my pc is nagging at me, about 3 minutes at most. And it's all free-ware. No paid software necessary which is a big + to most people.

well i meant the divx codec is something u download for this program (just as u downloaded the xvid codec) so most of this is the same, its just that u probably have a desktop which is fast as it is, my i7 in my laptop has 4 cores (virtual 8 coz of 2 threads per core) but only 1.6ghz per core :p so u can feel a huge difference from multithreaded encoding. but yea as u can see in ur guide when u clicked the xvid codec, it says "no restrictions", the divx one has some for screen proportion until u configure it right :p so fewer issues for people who dont know what they r doing

but yea i was also like wtf do i do since fraps said u should use this program and this program by itself is useless until u get a decent codec into it xD

edit: there, u see uses 8 logical cpus and enhanced multithreading :p

it just requires 1 modification in the configuration since it has proportion restrictions. just gotta change the format out to compute the closest preset so it doesnt throw errors at u

I used to use divx long ago but it to me feels like Xvid gives better size/quality. And my pc isn't that speical

    AMD Phenom II x6 1055T (Oc'd to 3.4GHZ)
    8 gigs G.skill Ripjaws ddr3 1600

"not that special" as in ur processor is more than double the speed per core compared to mine xD so yea i feel a much more drastic increase from multithreading :p

Hm, I was using this: H.264 Encoder - freeware encode video to H.264 format; let me try yours, might be better o:

Edit: After testing a bit, I like 4.00 the most - decent for a PvP vid, 20~30 times less file size :)

I just use vegas and render them with one of the presets.
Not bad renders in less than 5 mns and keeps the full HD quality :D

would be nice if fraps could apply compression while recording huh :p it splits files every once in a while anyway so it could compress the ones that r finished automatically xD or just record in a compressed format
