    Well I was given the equation:

    f(x) = -5x^5+8x^3-9x^2-7x-1

    I'm supposed to graph it and all that jazz which I understand, but I was told to apply these transformations: |f(x)| and f|x| and I'm clueless on what to change.

    |f(x)| means all the negative Y values become positive
    f|x| means all the negative X values in the equation become positive, not necessarily the output of the equation

    heres the effect of the transformation

    if u wanna graph a specific example, make a table with inputs from like -5 to 5 and graph that or something :p

    X: -5, -4, -3, -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5
    Y: 14434, 4491, 938, 73, -6, -1, -14, -147, -1102, -4781, -14886

    Absolute X: f(x) = -5abs(x)^5+8abs(x)^3-9x^2-7abs(x)-1
    X: -5, -4, -3, -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5
    Y: -14886, -4781, -1102, -147, -14, -1, -14, -147, -1102, -4781, -14886
    The X>0 part just reflected onto the negative axis so its like V shape open downwards now

    Absolute Y: abs(f(x)) = -5x^5+8x^3-9x^2-7x-1
    X: -5, -4, -3, -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5
    Y: Y: 14434, 4491, 938, 73, 6, 1, 14, 147, 1102, 4781, 14886
    Removes negative signs from the output of the original, reflects what was below the X axis to above the X axis

    You know the zeros? I'm supposed to have 5 but I only see 3 unless the other 2 are imaginary.

    edit: which of the functions do u have in mind? if u mean the original then there r only 3, the power of the function is the MAXIMUM number of zeros, not the actual number, the signs in the equation determine which way it bends

    ur missing a term to the power of 4 and the sign changes r - + - - so there arent many bends
