aion freezing windows

Hi,

my problem is that when i play long (2-4 hours or less) my aion freezes and also freeze my windows.
I can open up my task manager when it does, but can't kill the process. Once restarted it works.



what i tried so far:
aion: reinstall, repair
driver: reinstall, delete + reinstall (all new)

my specs:
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2630QM CPU @ 2.00GHz
8 GB RAM
Win 7 x64
nvidia geforce gt 540m


what kind of freeze:
cant do anything in aion - no reaction

can sometimes open up task manager but cant kill the process, so need to restart to kill the process.

 

i need more detail on this:
"cant do anything in aion - no reaction"

do u hear sounds? does ANYTHING on ur screen move? or is it still image. can u move ur mouse on the ingame screen?

depending on that, there r more things i could think of. 1 is the memory leak that aion has, my pc gets ridiculously laggy when i play for a long time and i see my free ram get low so yea i also restart the client so it cleans and then i can play smoothly again

1 is crappy geforce mobile graphics drivers but those tend to make ur entire pc freeze and need hard restart

the last is the send log error that all of us get (a crash after a few hours of playing), theres a chance ur just not seeing the error message

 

Graphic card problem?

 

i dont think its graphics card although i know mobile nvidia drivers r crap. the thing is graphics card problems cause a complete pc freeze that requires a hard restart (apparently its bsod it just doesnt show a blue screen), if he can turn on task manager i dont think its graphics

 

Well, the truth to be said, he guy should provide more details about the freeze that he gets. Maybe the PC gets overheat or the fans exists are blocked, etc.

 

about my freeze, since i play without sound there is just a short noise outbreak, so i was told in skype from my friends i play with.
when it happens my computer laggs, i close then the process with task manager but it is still there. no bluescreen or error message.

edit: no overheat, it is mostly a little warm but not hot. also using extra fan to cool down.

what i do is restarting my computer after some time, to clean the RAM.

i use latest graphic drivers. and deinstalled(cleaned) old ones

could u be more specific? dont close it in the applications tab of task manager, kill aion.bin in the processes tab, that should instantly shut it down (only win xp doesnt do it, win 7 always does regardless of how frozen an app is)

well u can always try the mobile geforce card fix i had to do when the damn graphics drivers froze my laptop when playing aion

1. Download the latest version of RivaTuner here: RivaTuner

2. Install RivaTuner and Run the program.

3. In the Main tab, click on the arrow next to Customize under Driver Settings to bring up more options then click System Settings (the first Icon)

4. In the Overclocking tab, where it says "Force constant performance level" select performance 3D.

5. Click apply, and reboot the system when prompted.

If for some reason the "Force constant performance level" drop-down is grayed out you will need to go to the "Power users" tab in the initial RivaTuner window. Then click on the "+" next to "RivaTuner \ NVIDIA \ Overclocking". Look for "EnablePerfLevelForcing" and under Value type 1. Click apply, this should allow you to modify "Force constant performance level." Finally, follow steps 3-5 above.

so tried installing RivaTuner.
1. since I use Win 7 64 Bit it said something about unsigned driver. I don't know, if this is the problem
2. Under Main i selected the 540M Driver. but didn't find the "system settings" icon see screenshot.
I looked up every driver but there isnt any. But i think its because of the unsigned driver it didnt install because win


do you by any chance use teamviewer and can help out?


edit: ok installed the driver from rivatuner still nothing changed.

after some time using google i found this programm.
MSI Afterburner but still not getting it.

PROBLEM SOLVED
Running Aion now 2 days without a freeze. =)

How i did it
In the Nvidia Settings, in the 3D settings part i set power management mode to max. performance.
