Retail population???

Today with the free trial system i made a char on retail NA Israphel server and when i reach lvl 10, searched how many ppl online, and the result was 320ppl on asmo side!!??!!??!! 320 on a retail server when on siel 2 day ago (about the same time of the day) the search found 600+ppl on ely side??

its a joke or i did something wrong?

 

No, you most likely didnt do anything wrong. You have to understand that NA Retail, doesn't have all the school kids on it most likely when you played. Though I doubt they play there anyway.

^^; Gotta remember that not everyone can play AION. I mean. If they ahve work or school ya know?
Possible...but I don't know how populated retail is compared to us.

i was very suprised when i saw that only 300+ ppl on one side when it's the about the same amount of ppl like lumiel, and i think its very low for a retail server

i have 6 hour time change with USA so i will see later when there will be afternoon/evening but i think it won't be much more than 400-500 which is very low too on a retail server in my opinion

 

And there is more than one server! Israphel isn't all the retail Aion players around. ;p
But I suppose 350ish sounds about right. Probably peaks 500 during prime time

And as Asaline said--You don't have all the little ones playing, and its not international like gamez is.

Edit 2: just read your most recent post. 500 was great for me. More than enough peeps to get a group for anything. Guess we just feel differently there. D:

 

i know there are more retail server but lets count with na retail and gamez

na retail: 4 servers
one server with 2 side: about 400ppl*2=800
result: 3600ppl

gamez (with crystal): 3 servers
lumiel: about 300ppl*2=600
siel: about 500ppl*2=1000
crystal (i don't know much about it): about 150ppl*2=300ppl
result: 1900ppl

with wild numbers 3600ppl compared with 1900ppl, and retails has 1more server than gamez, not too much on retail i think

 

for some odd reason reatil is hitting the bottom of the barrel for populace, to the extent that in 3.0 they're opening it up as a fully free to play game in hopes of gaining more community and increasing their player base, but they'll be doing a cash shop thing like Perfect World games which ruins games in my opinion, but i know they gotta pay their bills too. I'm actually surprised that the numbers were so low, i made a retail account yesterday night and played a little bit, and didn't see a single soul in asmodae, or aldelle village....but i could say the same for crystal

 

Agreed. Population will most likely boom when 3.0 goes f2p. Then cash shops come in, and I agree with how you feel about those too.

Honestly. Retail will end up killing itself with F2P. Yes, people will play it though they will quickly realize that they will need to sub for 9.99 a month to actually get anywhere with any decent time.

It is just a ploy to increase numbers. While, our playerbase here is yes, international and yes given that Retail has different localizations for clients and servers in different parts of the world they technically have more players, yet. We do have a fairly nice player-base for a P-Server =p.

However, I do know plenty of people who have already unsubbed from retail due to the F2P, considering what do they gain? A Veteran membership that gives...nothing? Gold is still a sub per month and what those who have played for before didn't even get with a regular sub to NCSoft.

Cash shops don't ruin games, the company who owns the shop does by putting stupid crap in to them and making things over priced. It happens on most F2P games that I've played or have seen.

Sooo thats my little spiel on this subject.
