    Well, I do not blame the Staff for the greediness of the people. The point is that this is one of the so many problems of Gamez, but if you want to start with it, they do it the right way which will bring results.

    In a private server you can more easily manipulate the economy, trust me in this. You wipe the drops from the game, you put them in the CS and you see your pockets get fat. At the same time, people cut their throats (- just an expression -) to get those precious items and sacrifice items for the ADD in order to obtain it.

    You cannot say that people should learn from their mistakes because Gamez never learn from its own mistakes and people are still getting hacked, there is no any anti-hacking shield software, the bugs are not getting less after each version upgrade, etc. This is not the real world when you will tell to someone to not walk out after 12am, because he might get attacked/ mugged. This is a virtual world where you can control everything if you want it. The question is if the Staff wants to do it or not ;)

    Also, when you see everyday so many people to ask to do unfair trades, then you should take an action to change it, improve it instead of just advising not to trade with those unfair and greedy people. The same way as you set a rule not to ninja loot, and you punish all those who do it. You can set a price-list for in game trades and punish the rule breakers.

    Am I right here?

    Because back then you did have 50% of good and rare drops in the CS.

    Removing illegitimately obtained items has absolutely nothing to do with overbearing market regulation - those items were not meant to exist and caused a significant disturbance. One of our utmost duties as administrators of a server is to ensure all items/currency/gameplay advantages are obtained legitimately rather than via "magic" I fail to see how that is remotely applicable to this thread.

    AP has been left largely unadjusted over the last two years and the relatively minor adjustments we have made were decisions based on value judgments from rankings not the items you can get with AP or the economy. AP is so ridiculously easy to get, and always has been on Siel, that the real limiter to "abyss gear" has always been medals rather than AP.

    You are correct though in saying that the Kinah cap is an example of us placing restrictions on the market. Placing a hard-cap on kinah partially limits inflation and keeps kinah trades within a relatively reasonable spectrum along with avoiding potential bugs with large kinah sums, this was largely done back when kinah rewards were still demanded in events to ensure they scaled to some extent with the economy. Wipes have been extremely rare and were usually tied to a massive exploit or implementation of the cap.

    For the rest whether or not people making exorbitant demands is "a problem" at all depends on whether or not you're a fickle consumer willing to cave into demands of sellers. As stated above in the post you quoted but completely ignored market forces set buy and selling prices. If buyers refuse to meet the selling price some players are putting up then the market will either adjust or those sellers will be replaced by others who actually want to sell/trade their gear. Prices only remain high if people are willing to pay it and if people are buying at those prices then it sucks to be you but that's how an economy works. Prices are set by what people are willing to pay - not necessarily what you are willing to pay.


    What? You presume to know what will motivate us to wipe? That's a rather bold statement.

    What exactly do you think we're going to wipe?

    • Items? - Preposterous, we have no intention of ever wiping inventories or characters.
    • Kinah - What would this accomplish in regards to your "ADD!!" problem? Trades are done via barter (items for items) so kinah wipes would have virtually no effect for an overwhelming majority of trades.

    Although I really fail to see why people choosing to give "greedy traders" what they want is going to cause the pillars that form our online society to collapse. It's buyers who choose to give into these demands which let the "greedy people" make substantial profits. Oh noes - there's profit maximizing capitalists in my game economy!

    The prices are illogical? Then don't pay them. Market forces decide what a "fair price" is.


    We are not stripping out the trade function nor are we going through the extensive process of implementing a dual-currency system for no substantial gains.


    And this changes what? Scamming? Scamming only happens these days with barter trades when people are silly enough to trade all their items because the other person "promised" to give them what they asked for afterwards. Read what's in the trade menu carefully and don't be stupid - it is completely unnecessary to dedicate massive amounts of staff time to babysitting trades. We did that a year or so ago and it was pointless.

    Yes I'm familliar with the system. The amount of client-side editing that would need to be done to implement it, and the possible exploitations, do not justify such an undertaking. This would also be a massive issue with multivoting - not going to happen.

    We are not here to "babysit" and oversee "kids" or buyers with poor decision making skills. If players are unsure of the value of an item they're welcome to consult their friends/guild/forum - we are not here to hold their hand and make sure they're getting a good deal for their items.

    The market exists to promote trade and trade comes with enough uncertainties as is. We have zero intentions of massively over-regulating the trade market, doing so causes economic uncertainty and can make people reluctant to trade for fear of punishment or sudden upheavals. We only interfere in the economy where it is necessary for serious gameplay balance concerns - usually in relation to exploits or in response to significant game mechanic changes/introductions.

    I feel like we're having completely different discussions here... maybe this is why I usually close all the threads I post in.

    Well I wont go over what I said above again (read my posts above if you want to know the justification) however the changes in this thread are simply not practical and we will not be implementing them.

    Thanks for taking the time to think of them though =)
