    Can anyone help me w/ networking?

    my head is about to burst. we were given an assignment on networking.
    how to create a network using cascading type. presented in a physical diagram.

    Given:

    3 pcs.- 8 port router on 25 PC

    i really need to get this done. if anyone of you has the knowledge about this kind of stuff. PM me please.

    WOOO, this makes me happy in the pants. Finally, some networking.

    This is very, very vague. Firstly, what do you mean by "3 pcs"? Secondly, "cascading" in networking terminology means a failure that begets more failures. For instance, when one part of a system fails, the nearby nodes compensate by inheriting parts of and balancing the network load. This new responsibility can overload the equipment, in turn causing them to fail, and this failure causes the other nearby nodes to do the same thing with the same results. This failure propagates throughout the network.

    If by cascading you meant link redundancy, then you'll need a basic understanding of failovers and Spanning Tree Protocol. which I can give if you need. Also, do the computers need any special configurations? If not, getting network access to all of them is a simple as connecting 1x 48-port switch to the router, and the computers to the switch if they are all in the same physical location, or connecting them to several smaller switches if they are located in different rooms. If they need to be segregated with VLANs, then you can set up routing-on-a-stick with virtual interfaces on one physical interface.
