Gamescom 2012: Aion 4.0 New Classes

Looks like NCSoft mentioned in Gamescom 2012, that there will be three new classes available for 4.0
Sources say that it would be a gun wielding, musical instrument class and the last one is yet to be known.

shulacks in sky fort has gun wielders, so I already thought of such class might be implimented, idk know 'bout musical instruments though.. as for the secret class i think i might already have an idea, though i might be wrong.. outside raksang instance there are balaur mobs, one type of mobs uses kicks as an attack and has an attack stance similar to some korean martial art..

You mean like Warden Surama? If that's the case, then I'll be guessing you are thinking of a Martial Artist, which would pretty much fit right into the mix considering a lot of other MMO's have these kinds of layouts already. If my guess is right and your thought is also right, then let's hope for the best from the Kickboxing Daevas!

 

since ranged and magic class was the only ones revealed, and left out melee class.. i guess we both might already figured that much.. and like martial artist class, in most MMOs they haz the coolest looking skills, just check out Blade and Soul.

 

The one thing that comes to mind is whether or not these new classes will be slotted into an existing class as a third sub-class, or categorised into an entirely new class all-together (although the later seems unlikely). The former option makes a lot more sense to me, but then there's one class that's left out.

Also, I've been kind of expecting a firearm-wielding class for awhile now. I remember in one cinematic for a campaign quest for the Elyos in Inggison, they showed the Elyos utilising gunpowder artillery pieces against the Balaur dredgion. I'm looking forward to this class sort of class and the gameplay aspects involved.

In regards to the musical instrumental class...eh, I don't really know if I like the idea of that all-together. But, who knows how it'll turn out?

If they were to slot them into the existing class groups, we'll be needing 2 unknowns instead of 1.
Gunner -> Scout? Musician -> Priest? Doesn't seem fitting somehow.

My guess for the unknown to be either:
Monk (yay for more 'the target is too far away' message) OR
Alchemist (quite a number of chemists mentioned in the story)

Ragnarok Online has one of the well known Musical Instrument class in a mmorpg. RO classified them as "archer's" higher class and their main role was their static AoE buffs (similar to Aion's Chanter Mantra). In regards to Aion, NPC musicians has become quite common recently (particularly in Oriel) so it isn't very farfetched to slot them into the lore. Afterall we are uncertain if the new classes will be even Asmodian/Elyos, could be Reian/Shugo/"Humans".

 

That's what I've been thinking. Either they slot them into pre-existing classes as a third subclass (leaving one class out or having a fourth one in the works), or create a new class all-together. If the latter is the case, what armour will they be wearing? What fifth class could a firearms expert and a musician be classified together under? It would seem to be quite a random class, seeing as how the related subclasses are only slight variations in the same style of gameplay.

And speaking of new races; having the Balaur as the new playable race would be the only way it would work, seeing as how it would maintain hostility among the races and the current PVP system. The Reians I don't think would work at all, seeing as how they're both trying to bring the Asmodians and the Elyos together as allies. They'd pretty much have no-one to PvP with, lol. And having any other race that is not a major power in the war would be kind of pointless.

 

Gun Wielding Sounds like a Ranger just adding the Gun. Musical Wielding class, Sounds like Sona from LoL. Imo why not make a champ that has Fish for spells and one op skill that pops a Shark out of the ground (for those of you who play LoL yes, im referring to fizz ^^)
