New GMs, did I miss something?

I think GM applications are not based purely on length of time spent playing on this server but their overall attitude about the server and players and experience and many things.

Guaranteed if some people who applied made negative comments in passing about the server or a gm or carl in the past he did not forget and took note of it for future reference.

Also I have run a wow private server in the past that was highly succesfull and the GM's that I got to be part of our team were not people that necessarily had played on the server for a long time although of course there was some of those), but the people who could bring a new perspective to the server and help it to grow and make the community better. Sometimes an outside influence can support your server more than the one that comes from within.

Also these names may be different than the actual players who applied for the GM position, as in they could have changed their names for the forums to keep from being known or judged by people or hassled for things by the people that know them well...not saying is the case but I know alot of GM's on other servers that created characters for this purpose so their GM role and the people who knew them as gm came to respect them for that role but they could also change to their normal character and just play the server as normal and with friends without any expectations.

 

I think we should give them all a chance before judging on how little known they are (some I've never heard of). Incompetence, in due time might get them demoted, of course I truly hope none of them are incompetent. Personally I'm glad to see people who will be there to host events... read cries of outrage because of "h4x0rs" and so on. I'll be eagerly waiting and watching, I hope the best for you new GMs and I hope you don't mess up. Host those events GMs.... so I can finally afford to blow 100m on a worthless item .

On a side note, Aegis didn't get picked? Come on now... I'm not the decision maker around here but I'm pretty sure Aegis was qualified. Whether he did or did not blast through termi walls... I really don't give a flying crap it doesn't make him any less of a good GM. I liken Aegis to a reporter, hella active on the forums, and always pointing out bug abusers, more than anything being blunt. Whatever, I'm not the one that makes decisions around here (as a matter of fact I don't even know who does anymore lol).

 

I agree that we shouldn't judge them before hand, but from how terrible past experiences have been with random GMs, I guess I can say I'm now pessimistic. I was hoping that the qualified applicants (of which a few were hired) would all be hired, but unfortunately that was not the case. I am just going off of past experience here though

 

i honestly dont know why anyone would WANT to be an admin on this server.... the people you were friends with will expect special treatment, and boycott you when they dont get it. the people you werent friends with will be fake and phony and throw shit fits when THEY dont get what they want after sucking your dick. you have to deal with all the PLZ SIR PLZ PLS PLS MY CHAR MY KINAH and a couple random pinoy words that make no sense whatsoever. throwing events for people who cheat/hack then getting blamed for it failing because you just cant keep up with all of them now. if you validate your life through this game, then perhaps this is a moment of accomplishment for all who were chosen... but other then that... YA'LL JUST WON THE ASS RAPE LOTTERY. HOPE YOU ENJOY YOUR HEMORRHOIDS. lololoolo

Carl(That's the guy who picked the GMs) doesn't log onto these forums for more than 5 minutes a day. He has no idea who anyone is(Hence why certain names on that list made EVERYONE go "wtf"), and really the chances he DIDN'T pick everyone at random are slim to none. Or you know maybe he picked the application which had the nicest colors. Point is no one was picked because of their posting history. No one was passed over because of it, either. That's the real tragedy.

 

the lottery metaphor is mine >.<. Most of the new GMs are randoms, a few are qualified but may be spread thin for other reasons ^^, and one or two are just TERRIBLE decisions. But thats my breakdown of it. I hope Carl chose these and not albull and alente, because then I'd be disappointed in you two lol

Honestly, I'd have to say I was expecting NO qualified applicants to become GMs. I'm happy with the ones who did though, as for how qualified is a matter of time, sure enough we'll see. Also Lakhane didn't become a gm *cough traitor* if that would've happened I would have really started to question the decision making when it comes to qualified GMs.

First off congrats to all who made it. ^^ Also I find it funny how many actually thinks Carl made the choices when it was actually Alente who would review them as stated in his post. ^^

Lol, it IS quite funny how we expect the server owner to spend more than 5 minutes of his life in the little game-business he is running isn't it? Also it is quite funny that the admin has to take care of every freaking thing around here, I don't know about you but I find that HILARIOUS.

Alente spends enough time on these forums to know some names on that list should never have even been considered for GM status.

The math states you hire the one with best resume not best background... So your statement falls a bit short. ^^ But I can't say that I disagree, but what can you do but see it from the bright side you got more GMs even if they're not the best.

 

You ever hear about what happened on crystal? In fact, lemme drop you a bomb, Alente was behind that. But enough of me spilling secrets, the fact is, I think alente and albull were too smart to choose those GMs. Sure, you choose people based on their app, but a convicted rapist and murderer could have a better application for a job than say a hard-working employee that you've seen at work before. using your skewed logic, you'd hire the rapist/murderer. In essence, thats what happened here also >.>.

BTW, in the world of business, lots of employers ask for refrences. Background and previous experience play a HUGE role in it. So do not compare that to this, since those two things were tossed out the window in choosing these apps

 

Lol, because lying on the internet is impossible. There goes YOUR statement.

I don't want GMs. Yeah, they get rid of dupers and hackers. But whenever someone complains about the lag/bug/crash it's always the same lie "Working on it -close thread-".

People believe those lies and go donate to help the server. All that happens is carl gets another free meal for not doing anything. And the cycle continues.

Alente is one of the best admins we could have asked for, and he couldn't fix what's happening to this server. Neither could Albull. Where's this "bright side" you speak of? I believe I lack the drugs necessary to see it.

As for knowing some only in forums, then I would say Autumn has had some useful and cool headed posts. I dont feel a bias from her/him at all.

Lol, it was an example not a detailed version on how it happens in real life. Also nope never heard of what happen on Crystal nor do I really care. ^^ Besides the reason why I said Alente reviewed the applications was cause, well that's what his post said in the thread. Besides as long as they do an alright work does it really matter? :S

Btw the "Working on it" part... Remember that it's not GMs that do the fixes but Devs... That reminds me is Zero really the only Dev? Or are the others in hiding? XD

 

I agree, autumn and koishi will hopefully make excellent GMs. tyman and kaeda and bones might, but I know this isn't their only source of aion *wink wink*. The rest, meh

 

Let's not decide who will make an excellent GM.
