    pretty much, for example:

office 2010 - $150 for the lame basic version, $500 for the pro version, compared to office 2007 they changed the loading animation and stretched the main menu across the whole screen, otherwise identical. a program everybody needs

adobe photoshop cs6 - $700, when upgrading from cs5 $200, a very common image editing program with highly ridiculous prices

if they stopped trying to rip u off like this, maybe people would actually be more willing to pay

btw japan got its own new antipiracy laws where u can end up in jail and paying a massive fine just for watching a copyrighted music video on youtube. we will see how they enforce it

if they want people to stop pirating, they need to come back to the real world and charge something reasonable

Yeah its sad to see some of my course buddies struggling to save up for Microsoft programs that they cant even afford, which leaves them staying behind after hours to catch up on campus.

Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012 - Republic Act No. 10175

Still has too many loopholes. I don't know whats really on the mind of this senator but he seemed redundant. Hmm, maybe for his next years senatorial election.who knows? :pinched:

    Verdict
    I Agree.

But to note something, with photoshop, illustrator, indesign you can make a company brands, books etc and charge 1k USD and more. Even if some of those software are "comon" they are originally designed for professionals. With Adobe After Effect you can do a TV spot (plus other softwares and people involved) and charge ludicrous sums of 40k USD. CHaos group, the owner of the rendering engine VRAY can charge way over 2K USD for their plug, and still you can make a photo realistic movie with it.

Its true that many try to rip you off, but in some markets it has to be like that, because the end public will gain far much with it.

look at how much awesome web content is made by people who didnt pay crazy amounts for these softwares :p anyways ms office wasnt made for professionals, it was made for everybody, its a freaking text editor, dont tell me the general population is not allowed to type. its a standard in every school u go to and ur expected to have it. hell, most schools require assignments to be typed and formated in it

I am not saying you are wrong.

But I do understand the meaning of professional market. And usually that awesome content allows the creators to end working in a big firm or gain enough fame that they have to end paying for that stuff. Otherwise their content ends being removed and they prosecuted. We must understand that even if we like or not, market works like that. Its the common folks, the ones that have no work but like the stuff that try to enter in the middle of it.

I am not defending it, I am just saying what it is.

I am also not saying that the law in its strict sense its alright either, there should be a context issue in where if you are starting, its obvious you cant pay such large sums, and you shouldnt be under the frame of it. But once you are in the middle of it, 2 or 3 works pay for everything, specially when you are good at it. And from there if you are smart and not a software addict, you make your bundle last several years and just profit from it.

Lately freeware software is starting to have the same quality that some of the more professional bundles have, for instance BLENDER. Also most of those companies that have excessive prices have educational bundles for schools.

And well, as a professional, 700 USD for photoshop, with what that software allows me to do, what allows me to charge to my clients, its damn cheap if you ask me.

I do fully agree with you with the case office for instance. Fully.
Same with music and other forms of copyright. But not completely with professional software.
