I wouldn't suggest using macro to use certain skills with just 1 click or with just 1 press of a key (if it happens to be key-mapped). Macro should be only used to switch sets, break down bundled items such as Aethers / Magical Aethers or maybe consume food and beverage which you don't usually do so often.

Macro is easily interrupted and it could waste your buffs/skills because it'll automatically use all of them even if you don't really have to use every single buff/skill that's included in the macro not to mention the issue with ping spikes which will make or break the function.

 

Like Zaitou mentioned, Macros should only be used to gear switch at best. I would not suggest using Macros for playing Sin or Templar if you want to play them effectively.

The only macro I could think of that fits using Sin is to Apply Poisons since they have minimal cool down and generally used in conjunction. Note: ADP requires battle stance so even something so simple doesn't always work.

that just got me thinking about those 30 second parry buffs on chants and glads. Annoyingly hard to remember to use them constantly, easy to do a nice 2-3 minute, maybe longer, macro for them (unless macros stop when something else is done in between them, then macros are fugly).

 

the thing bout the macro is that u wouldnt be able to move for half a second, sins generally dont stand still so it would break already. he can click it manually sooner than 0.5 secs too

yea if anything id use macros to switch sets. even for the 2 cleric buffs it often doesnt buff both of them just when ur out of combat really waiting for something.

as for dealing with bundles, i use a clicker for that so i can go afk and come back to all of them finished, far easier than macros

thats the thing, ANY interaction, even a direction key breaks a macro

im a sin and i use macro on my evasion counter attack skills ( counter attack and whirlwind slash ) u can put the two of them on a 1 macro button, when i evade successfully 1 press = counter attack and another press the whirlwind slash..

Exactly what makes it bad. Why do you need to put your target in spin literally right after you stunned it with Counter Attack? You can weave or use another skill after Counter Attack and once the stun is about to run out, it's when you use Whirlwind Slash.

If the target used Remove Shock after getting hit with Counter Attack, he gets 1000 stumble, knock back, stun, aether's hold and spin resist and your macro is going to waste Whirlwind Slash on it.

there is another way if u have 2 sets with identical names but different manastones

use shift + 4 (or whatever other combo) to bring up another action bar set that is blank, put ur armor set in it and make a macro referencing the absolute position of the action bar slots (can drag the item in the slot to simplify it)

like this

first armor set in the shift + 4 action bar set (which is empty for everyone) with items in the first 5 slots of the bottom row
/quickbar 1 4 1
/quickbar 1 4 2
/quickbar 1 4 3
/quickbar 1 4 4
/quickbar 1 4 5

second armor set in the shift + 5 action bar set (which is empty for everyone) with items in the first 5 slots of the bottom row
/quickbar 1 5 1
/quickbar 1 5 2
/quickbar 1 5 3
/quickbar 1 5 4
/quickbar 1 5 5

now all u have to do is use 2 simple icons as u normally would in ur visible action bars and let the switching happen in the background

u can put both sets in the same action bar set, just different row (which is the first number, 1 is bottom row, 2 is the one above it, 3 is the one above that, 4 is the side action bar)

as for accessories (or dual weapons) not switching coz they always get shoved into the same slot instead of replacing both items, u can use the absolute code for the slot itself to make sure it replaces both. cant remember the slot numbers from the top of my head but ill look it up

 

the trick i used to do when i was on my block set on my acd was to socket 2 parts, breastplate and pants with crit,
and rest with block. thats a common block + crit rite?
and whenever i meet a block cleric or such, i would use macro to swap only the 3 pcs of armr socketed with block, to 3 pcs of abg armor socketed with accuracy
so after macro, i would hav 2 parts crit, 3 parts accuracy, which is an ordinary crit+acc set

i find swapping the whole set some what annoying, just cause u can mess up when u get attked in a wrong timing

3 parts swap however, is much easier.
Even if u get hit while swapping, it completes the swap, i didnt mess up once with 3 pcs swap cause it swaps so fast xD

but yea i wouldnt recommand using macro for skills. Tehe

That happens when you click the macro twice and the first time it can not complete, just try again(?.

 

and i never said that i will use them successively.. u have a bad bad urgggggggghhh.... i was being practical to save some skill slots since im playing on siel..


when he had used his remove shock and ofc i can stun lock it from now on. 1 press and then weave and then another evaded attack another press.. im not that naive to be lectured by u... u should ask me first how i use them... and this thread is about what is a good macro for sin and Templar as he asked and that is what i just said..

Stun lock him after remove shock? Pretty sure I mentioned that Remove Shock gives stun resist...

Putting Counter Attack and Whirlwind Slash in 1 macro is BAD
