that thing is turning into a hurricane again? da hell.. a 900 mile + hurricane ravaging north america 52 days before the alleged end of the world.. great timing to make the masses go crazy.

My sister lives in Atlanta, we called her yesterday. She was telling us her house was being eaten by the high velocity winds as we spoke. If this thing is going to become stronger as it hits that cold front, then I wish luck and hope to North American families.

last time i checked america wasnt the world. i know some americans may not agree with me but that doesnt make the argument valid. also last time i checked this isnt the first or the last hurricane (or natural disaster). in fact its pretty minor (in terms of scope) only covering a section of the coast of only 1 continent, there have been far more devastating once throughout history and people survived that anyway

    either way wish them luck

edit: btw mayans never did predict the end of the world, they just built calendars in cycles so thats an end of one and beginning of another. also the date is wrong by like 50-100 years coz of a conversion error

I never really mentioned the mayans or any of that crap, I'm saying people will most likely blow this disaster out of proportion due to its timing with what most people believe is the end of the world, which might result in a large scale community breakdown considering the chaotic nature of humans.

regarding the actual size of the storm, I believe I'm right in saying it's disastrous, I never said it was the most disastrous one, even though it does look like one of the most disastrous that has hit North America. I also said NORTH America, seeing as it's hitting Canada as well. Please do not misinterpret my use of the word "America", seeing as I know "America" is not the world, since I also live in America, but a couple of thousand miles south of "America".

as i said, its not even one of the biggest in the US, let alone the rest of the world. also its just tsunamis, there r far higher death tolls from other disasters

"Falling out of bed kills 450 people annually in the U.S."
10 Incredibly Bizarre Death Statistics - Oddee.com (strange statistics, weird statistics)

grats, falling out of bed in the US alone is a deadlier disaster than this tsunami

    Disaster != Death Toll

First example that comes to mind is Katrina, which cost the US Government billions of dollars.

In those terms, Sandy IS disastrous as it is destroying cities, is affecting 22+ states of the US and parts of Canada, and isn't going to be over until after quite a few days.

EDIT: LMFAO@falling out of bed deaths

u wanna make it a matter of money? ur on

"The United States spends 58 percent of the total defense dollars paid out by the world's top 10 military powers, which combined for $1.19 trillion in military funding in 2011."
Fact Of The Day #8: U.S. Defense Spending Dwarfs Rest Of The World

annually, u spend 11 times more on fighting pointless wars than the cost of the "most devastating" natural disaster u ever had

the army already told the government they dont need more tanks, its a waste of money to build and maintain them, they have more than they will ever need. the gov response? build more tanks. just to protect some 30k jobs there when the money could create far more jobs anywhere else

ur government is the costliest disaster u ever had

    seriously

I would love it if we get some snow here in Charlotte, North Carolina due to this, but I know that wont happen, so I'll just deal with the annoying wind and see absolutely nothing entertaining related to Sandy

PFFF!!!! 1960 Chile earthquake 9.0 richter, the strongest in recorded history. A whole city leveled and then a tsunami that simple washed what was left, but hey happened in the last corner of the world, who cares right?

Lets talk about disasters, Toba supervolcano, 74.000 years ago, 2.800 square kilometers of ashes released. Simple wiped out most of living creatures on asia, reduced the hominid population on the world, and some theorize that it changed life as what it was know back then, in a evolutionary level.

Its simply that people lacks perspective to talk about this kind of things. Earthquakes do what earthquakes do, same as Storms. Is not the first, nor the last. Has no relation with anything that anyone can say. And people will always die because of them.
