Possible Simple Solution to Zerging?

    Just an idea I've had for a while. Maybe get rid of AP death penalty altogether? AP doesn't mean anything anyway and if there's no penalty for dying (other than lost consumables) then there's no need for safety in numbers and people can be as aggressive as they want.

    The only downsides I can think of would be leaderboard issues and the hassle of deranking would be more cumbersome since there'd be a lot more AP to get rid of.

    Thoughts?

    there still is strength in numbers. if ur alone vs a zerg u still will get no AP even if u dont lose any, changes nothing

    besides, on retail highlvls kill lvl 20s in morheim etc even though they get no AP and no kill count just to piss people off. once rift caps got removed, they moved to the lowest lvl maps possible.

    i guess killing people 1/3 their lvl makes them feel strong :p

    I think theres no way to prevent zerg in aion.Thats why every chars has AOE skill,group system exist,make party with ur friends.If u want to do 1 on 1 so badly then i suggest u play assasin ^^

    It's not about whether someone wants 1v1's or not, it's about the fact that people won't move out of their usual spots and comfort zones. It's the reason why people complain about Ragnarok, forts in inggison & gelkmaros not being ely/asmo 50/50, authorities being favorable to certain faction, etc.

    As far as I'm concerned, trying to "fix" the zergs is as much of a dead end as world peace; it just won't happen, especially since this is an MMO after all, it's meant to be Massive amounts of people. Sure, pisses people off, but it is a cruel truth.

    I personally don't see how taking away AP loss from death from the equation could help. People may be driven by AP, but it's not only about AP. People get killed, ask for backup, get it, and start a zerg. In the end it's about being able to say "check-mate" no matter what it might take. Looking at players separately, they do get driven by the AP, but if we look at the zergs as one big hive-mind, we see they only get driven by the red dots in the minimap, and that's all there is to zerging: killing the red dots in mini-map as fast as possible.
