Because most, if not all of the skills mentioned besides Fear work as intended, and aren't game-breaking. I'm speaking from a Lumiel point-of-view here, also. Most people play SM's only for the abuse that their skillset provides, so stigma system or not, Fear is too game-breaking right now. If it's removed, two things will happen: 1) Players will have a better time PvPing. 2) People will re-roll from SM (not gonna disagree with that happening >.>.)

I think that for right now, we could use a teleporter straight to Tiamantara. Also, Balaur should be altered to not siege any forts in Tiamantara. This will provide a temporary (perhaps even permanent) solution to our PvP problem.

I tried both and they were fun. Day one of arenas was awesome because I got to go apeshit and wreck people. Then, sadly, players lost interest in arenas because there's no incentive to play them.

Know what we need to get arenas working? Rewards and Ease-of-Access.

We need a command (.arena) and we need some reward for participating.

I forgot about the language scrambler. I really do wish we could talk to the opposite race again. Even if the system is abused and players talk shit to each other, I still want to talk to my friends. I'd also love to give enemies constructive criticism so that they will improve their playstyle.

I agree. One month is too short. Four months seems quite nice.

The reason that I think rank locks should be removed from ACD is because it's a nuisance - nothing more. You only need rank one to equip it which is enough AP to warrant a few hours' PvP on a new character, but not enough to actually require skill to equip ACD. Also because resets would inconvenience those with the best armor.

I think class locks should be removed because some classes are given multiple armor wearing abilities. ACD isn't desirable to me unless I can utilize multiple builds successfully with the different armor types.

Yea I put this idea out there to have a discussion on the downfall of this. Nice to be informed.

Man, I can't stress enough what good a custom teleporter would do for the PvP in this server. I don't think there should be a timer on it. Why take away something awesome?

As a player and (possible) future donator, I just want to be able to log on and have some nice ****in' PvP. I'm willing to do anything to get there. I was going to offer Carl 500$ (that's a lot of money for me) just to implement the custom teleporter. A friend told me he already did this and the reply was "no. something about players being able to access Tiamantara's Eye."

@Puddles: Your whole reply made me respect you a lot more than I used to. :p

Ha, I know that feeling. I got random plane ticket today to go to my sisters.

So, I would suggest, if you do get more ideas and or; other suggestions. Please for my sake and or whoever else. Put them in a different DATE on the OP.

Also, I do hope you read though my wall of text. Anyway, best wishes and happy thanksgiving.

PvP rewards are a nice idea to get people into the action faster but does nothing to address the quality of current PvP. The current state of PvP is zerg or be zerged. In this environment, aggressive soloing/single-group pvp is penalized while safety in numbers and a defensive play style is rewarded. The AP system should tweaked to encourage the complete opposite. Implementing an AP reward system also rewards rangers, glads, and sorcerers much more than other classes.

The suggestion of instanced group vs. group/larger-party/legion vs. legion PvP, especially if it is automated, is a good one. Rewards for performing well should be tangible, not mere candies and trinkets/knickknacks (the rewards for performing well in the arenas on retail is an example and disabling those rewards here is a great disservice to the format). An associated leaderboard system would give competitive players a place to dick-wave as well - structured and instanced PvP should be where the fame/glory is and where skill really pays off.

ABG/GBG/NCC gear should definitely be unlocked. In 2.7, 2nd tier PvP gear such as GPP/APP/EGT/EAT was a real viable alternative to newer players looking to get into PvP. In 3.0, especially with the addition of magic suppression, the gap in strength is almost laughable. The only real alternative for players is the 3.0 sentinel gear but it would be nice for new players to have more options to explore. At the moment I have a very hard time convincing friends and others to try Gamez when retail is free and offers significantly fewer gameplay limitations without the looming worry of server shutdown. The only real advantage of a pserver when retail is free is that it should save the player time and allow them to experience a game with less frustration, ie. rates. Implementing all the time wasters and grinding in a private server (crafting gear/cons, acquiring items) is a mistake and a significant detractor from what a PvP-oriented pserver should be about.

Finally, on the repeatedly amusing issue of spiritmasters; I only ever really see the three tankiest classes in the game complaining about them - glads, temps, chants, with plates vehemently so. God forbid those classes from having a counter-class right? They should have free reign to run around and smash faces - wanton destruction ftw, sweet! I don't think I could roll my eyes any more. Glads already have incredible freedom to do as they please in PvP considering their damage output - a well-geared glad can run into a group of non-plate users, rapidly rack up some kills, and fall back to support. Is it so hard to scan opponents for cloth users, mark the SM, and have your ranged party members focus them? Fear shriek has a range of 15m after all, while insta-fear has a CD of 5m, and normal fear has a 2.5s cast time. With limitations like that I find it difficult to find any argument regarding spiritmasters and fear to be anywhere near objective. In 1v1, sure they're pretty OP, but in a group? C'mon. If a single spiritmaster can really ruin a whole group's day I'd blame it on lack of coordination, an inattentiveness to surroundings, and a cleric that is way too close to the front line, ie. being bad.

I have a small idea that could probably be implemented quite easily.
A small NPC in Sanctum that could change 1 type of gear into another.
(I'm going to use cloth as an example)
Steps:
1) Take off your armor.
2) Talk to the NPC which will bring up the little box and you can choose either Plate, Chain, Or leather. -The armor in your inventory will not be shown -
3) You select one of these (Plate for example)
4) You choose the piece of armor you would like to exchange and place it in the item slot - Head, Boots, Chest piece, Gloves, Shoulder, Legs - Each piece has a different price next to it. ( Pricing below)
5) Once you have chosen a piece it exchange's your cloth for the plate piece equivalent at the same upgrade level, same slots but with no manastones.
6) You repeat the steps until you are finished with the every item you want to exchange.

Prices of Exchange:
Head: 25k
Boots: 50k
Gloves: 50k
Shoulder: 50k
Chest: 100k
Legs: 100k

As for accessories there could be a NPC doing the same thing - Crit : Magic and Magic : Crit -
All accessories would be at a price of 25k

As for weapons it would be similar..
You would pick what type of weapon you wanted and then insert your weapon.
You would receive the weapon you wanted with the same slots and upgrade level.
2 Handed weapons: 50k
1 Handed weapons: 25k

All prices would be in Abyss Points and not Kinah.

This would give people that want to change class easier a reason to pvp. Having to pvp to change class with ease would also help them get used to the class and maybe change their mind about rerolling.

This would also not effect trade because not everybody want's to pvp so people would still trade types of armor to another type of armor and weapons.. etc..

I know my suggestion is not related but a Senior AM has asked me to add my suggestion to this topic. My topic can be found here http://forum.gameznetwork.com/f63/emote-cards-cant-they-changed-138660/

Below is the official suggestion. Mechanics and such have been explained further in the topic itself.

1. The consumable shop would include some basics; there would still be other crafts that could be marketed as a commodity, How exactly will the zerg increase with the consumable shop?

2. That is certainly an idea to consider, but I think it might separate the gap between donator and non donator even more.

What I have been trying to tell everyone, but no one was listening. It takes a little bit of work but it gets it done, I just only have enough time to update it a couple times a week thanks to this busy schedule.

We would love your help on these kinds of things, but none of the AMs are going forward with these kinds of threads. It makes people feel that the GMs just moderate the forums, host events, and ban players.

Nerfing fear comes with a barrier; fear isn't working properly. When you get feared, you are supposed to turn in exactly the opposite direction and run away. Instead, you lag and bounce up and down, while the zerg wails on your ass. Once this is fixed, which will also probably fix templar pulls geodata error, gladiator stumble geodata error, and most falls through the map. I mean if geodata was fixed, pvp could become so much better.

For fun; geodata blooper

It would be nice to begin a discussion on the changing of Siel to stigma; it was viable back in 2.0 when there wasn't so many skills, but now there are several classes that can't even fit all their skills on their bars.

If people visisted the forum a bit more, we could actually have education and conversation. Gamez should try using the forum to talk and discuss with the community; when players are heard, they tend to visit more. You should also advertise the use of the forum in-game, maybe making links that we can click that would bring us here, encourging them to visit.

I like the idea of installing a craftable material merchant again, it would only stimulate the crafting community, especially for pvp. I also agree with the high prices, 1m seems somewhat expensive though. I don't see anything wrong with making it tradeable, it allows old players to help out the new like you said. What do you think of Legatto's idea on getting medals for AP? I would say maybe 250k silver, 500k gold, 1m plat, 2m mith. Updated and responded in the main post.

Read up on vRisen's and my arguments towards the dredgion and arena not being viable replacements. It also comes with the lack of education to the general populace, there is no perpetuation or advertising of the gamez forum. Alente has been pushing for instance pvp for months now, it's just the Developers are lazy asses and it never gets done. If we can maybe forumlate what we want and the devs have more guidelines to work with (who if I'm not mistaken most don't play Aion and understand it's aspects and issues), we could actually get instance pvp implemeneted.

Defnitely agreed with this idea thank you for articulating the positives, also I agree on removing the language barrier, the pvp used to be so much better when we could make people feel guilty about zerging us.

It seems like there is overwhelmng support for this, could someone maybe format it so I can put it up top?

I don't think we need to put a timer, but a limitiation of how many players can use it per zone (almost as a check in system).

why thank you. I know we have had our issues in the past, but you were the first GM to put forth the efforts required to make changes in the server. As many issues as a might have with you and your treatment of some people, the GM position comes with extra work; work that you need to make for yourself. So like Togi said, my respect for you went up with this.

You are right that it benefits those classes more than others, but that's really how it's always been. Zerging pvp definitely needs to be addressed, but you have to admit adding rewards to pvp might make pvp more enjoyable.

good ideas, added to external suggestions.

I can relate to this, and definitely needs to be highlighted as a good reason.

The problem is that fear is broken; it's basically an instant para, something that you can do nothing about. No matter how skilled you are, no matter how many skills you have left on CD, fear stops you from doing anything.

Taking a break from updating, will get to other ideas later, thanks to everyone for their contributions.

Just a small suggestion, since this is a PvP server and more often then not people can't be arsed to go out of their way and go level crafts. or sub-skills for crafts

Perhaps add a Shugo NPC in the main city for asmo and elyos that would level you by 100 points in the craft you select for 5-10mil AP
Or perhaps add an NPC shugo that would give you the option to buy 10 tokens of a respective Order for 1mil AP up to a maximum of 600 per day

Some of the gear by orders have good looks and can also make very nice pre-pvp gear

Huh well people wanted a green post so I guess here's a green post.

Don't complain when it's not all what you wanted to hear though =p Somewhat disappointed that most of the suggestions I usually silently agree with aren't even in this thread.

Seems reasonable enough though would require both server and clientside edits which is somewhat of a pain. Clientside edits in particular are a bit of a grey area for some on our end don't like stepping into but the idea itself holds water.

Hardly a new idea as its one I've brought up countless times internally over the year. I'd like it but then again there's a lot of things I'd like to have, doesn't mean I always get them =p

I imagine my foot-stomping over the idea will be somewhat ignored with the eventual implementation of Aion's actual GvG arena system. A subpar substitute to a custom-built system imo but probably fairly likely to happen. At the very least I'd like to see access to that default arena system via commands rather than just NPCs be implemented. We'll see.

P.S. Lose the snarkiness.

I don't even get this...? Just sounds like an overly glorified duel.

This is an idea I've toyed with, and done once or twice, in the past although restting AP every X months will cause unending rage now that some PvP gear requires ranks to equip. Although I suppose we could lower people to R1 at resets possibly instead of 0.

Maybe.

Disabling rank requirements would be an alternative although I'm fond of leaving them as is. Prevents the old scenario where you had zergs of R9s running around giving no AP.

I have zero intentions of enabling Deity, the feature is impractical. Once a group of players hits Deity they become almost impossible to dislodge from the top of the rankings. AP gains are too high on kills and deaths are too inconsequential, being able to transform every two hours and slaughter other players just makes high ranks unassailable on the charts. Not happening so I suppose you'll be pleased on that front.

ABG may be reenabled now that there's another gear tier above it although I suspect we'll probably leave that disabled until sometime after 3.5's release or when 4.0 hits. Somewhere in that timeframe, I can't say when as I don't know when.

On the subject of the Eye while there are some arguments for leaving it open constantly - "not being able to take the forts" is a pretty shit one. It's fairly common for the forts to be taken on Siel on almost every rotation, the Elyos seem quite fond of it. Pick a better argument if you want to go down that route.

Custom interfaces lands us in the land of client edits which is a bit messy on all fronts. Distribution issues (getting the item.pak out to everyone is a big enough pain as is) and legality (thin ice dodododo) makes the idea unappealing at best.

Honestly this idea has already reeked of a lack of desire to actually walk anywhere more than anything else. The prospect of spawning a Teleporter to Tiamaranta's Eye I can symphaphise with to some degree but "magical NPC that takes me wherever my heart desires" makes me wonder why even have a game at all. There are, or at least were assuming they haven't shut down already, servers that purposely strip out the majority of the game until all that's left is a lobby with a couple maps. Perhaps that's what you're looking for but I don't see us offering it.

As it stands Heiron/Beluslan/Gelkmaros/Ingission/Silentera are all open and fairly easy to access for PvP (despite the seemingly unlimited torrent of complaints I've seen you post on the subject of Heiron I never seem to have an issue finding rifts for it throughout the day, maybe I'm just blessed) with Morheim/Eltnen opening up in 3.5 to my understanding. There should also be some rifts popping up at certain times of the day for Theobomos/Brusthoin although I have no idea if those will be available when we initially update to 3.5.

Already answered above.

See bold.

+1

If you guys are too lazy to read, here is a short version of what Alente said;

"I already thought about it, I will put it maybe in future, devs and I are too (idk what, probably lazy) to do that because it will need working with client, could be looked into."

Seriously, instead of continuously saying and promising things in
, you could do something nice and what matters. From all of the great ideas as pvp zones and teleporters, I only see you and rest of the staff finding reasons why is it bad and why won't it work. F.e. you said using commands for teleporting into PVP zones could be like running from zerg, why not putting an 10 sec waiting for teleport or something like that? Please do your job and do something really nice for the server instead of just posting trollish posts on forum with pictures of doggies, videos of Gangnam Style.. and instead of making your AMs busting their asses of like f.e. Deathangel for porting many asmodians to Tiamaranta etc..

Idea1: Modified Crucible Arena
How it works: Enable the gates in the place where empyrian crucible used to be (the one that was for pve only but got disabled afterwards due to bug abuse (?),dont remember the name) but make them pvp arenas and allow players to enter and fight 1vs1 whenever they want without a ticket requirement but also without a prize.
Positives: A good reason for everyone to want to stop zerging and go for a solo fight. You lose nothing and you can enter without having to do a quest and most importantly it saves so much time, because people who like fair fights usually spend ages looking for a decent 1vs1 in abyss/heiron/ing/gelk/silentera and most of the time they just get zerged > rage >logout or go afk in sanctum/panda.
Negatives: Might be hard (but i believe possible) to implement,i cant think of anything else. Because those who want a prize can still go to the normal crucible arena, the one that requires a ticket and has long cooldowns.

PS: Could also make one for groups, for group fights (max 6 ppl)

By the way, someone said that high ranked players deserve a prize because they spend hours pvping with the risk of losing big amounts of AP or with the risk of getting zerged. Well seriously? That is the most ridiculous thing i have read in this thread. Most of those high ranked players are just plain zergers that know nothing else but to run in packs fully buffed and hide behind rank1s. So seriously,i believe they deserve no prize at all. I am not saying that all the high ranked players are zergers but im pretty sure that 90% of them, are. Just open the abyss ranking in game and read their names, most of them are those usual "epic zergers" that barely get out of the fortress.

I suggest you refrain from posting when you are ill-informed Kruno, it only serves to show that bitter attitude that's been festering since you were dismissed while I was away. Or do you honestly believe that I simply choose not to implement the valid suggestions on this forum (lets be clear here, they're not all good ones but some are) and instead waste hours upon hours of my time listening to people bark at me to do things I'd like to do? Do you truly, in your heart of hearts, believe that I would much rather spend my evenings frowning at silly threads and moderating them when they become incoherent? That I somehow enjoy posting walls of text to defuse the people who come onto this forum with the sole purpose of flaming me? That I get some pleasure out of reading whiny and overly entitled posts by people like yourself and, much unlike you, respond to them in a courteous manner? Truly? Is that the world in which you find yourself?

Quite frankly it reminds me of why I never post in these threads. Your summary is largely inaccurate - some of the ideas I disagree with and others I support, there are plenty of suggestions across the Aion forums that I push for day in and day out behind the scenes. I may be the absolute power when it comes to how Aion and the players who are in it are managed but server mechanic changes are not my job and have not been since I stepped down from all developer responsibilities over a year ago. Sure I have the influence to try make things happen but at the end of the day it's not me who signs the dotted line to push mechanic tweaks, it's not me who goes in and makes code changes, and it is most certainly not me who decides when and what the developers will be doing. I'm not allowed to go near that with a tenfoot pole lest I smack someone over the head for being silly.

Sure I may be in charge of everything else you see in Aion but not that. I'm the one who gets to listen to you all hiss and spit venom and then filter that into something constructive and take it to internal meetings to argue for.

While we're being honest though I find myself growing woefully tired of certain forum members, such as yourself, who have dedicated their presence within our community to the sole purpose of whinging. I do not know why you were dismissed from the AM team, I was away in a hospital somewhere staring at a ceiling, and honestly at this point I do not care. Even if your dismissal at the time was totally unjustified and whoever did it was abusing their powers I would still pat them on the back as it has let me see your extremely poor character shine through on these forums. I don't deny you did good while on our team, and appreciate the contributions greatly, but your behavior lately I find utterly repulsive.

So yes, I fight to improve this server and things are never as simple or obvious as people such as yourself think. Honestly I'm a bit tired of reading what you think - don't be surprised if this thread becomes inaccessible to you in a few minutes.

To the rest of you in this thread no your suggestions do not fall on deaf ears. Every suggestion on this forum (at least the ones posted in a vaguely relevant section) has been read by me and if I think it has merit then I prioritize it and do what I can. I choose not to post in all these suggestion threads because I really have no desire to post walls of text like I'm doing right now nor assign false hopes when I lack timeframes to give.

-/adjusts bowler hat-

The NPCs next to the gates already offer that functionality.

Kruno, please don't make this into a drama thread, you are just spitting out random theories that you have summarized. This thread is meant to have rational, logical discussion on improvements that we could make on our game and server as a whole.

Thank you for Josh replying on the thread, I know it's usually a rehash of the same old stuff. I will clean the thread later with the items that you dismissed as improbable, and move those that have a possibility of a later date being made.

Thank you for taking the time to respond to these, Josh.

The design of the class isn't to provide an instant-paralyze skill, where you can do nothing to escape. The skill is broken, and since it's broken, this single skill becomes the most overpowered skill in the game. Since it's the most overpowered skill in the game, this makes players want to roll the class simply to abuse a broken skill. You may not agree with this, but this is how it is. I'm tired of logging in to PvP, only to get feargangraped by a bunch of noobs. I'd like to have some sort of chance to be able to kill them.

I don't know if you know, but right now, when you place a kisk, you have to wait either 2 hours, or until your kisk gets destroyed to place a new one. If I want to move to another location, I am unable to do so even though the kisk cooldown is 30 minutes.

Can I have a reason why nothing will be done? This skill makes getting ganked very frustrating. No class has any defense against this except for a well-timed shield which is impossible to do if the templar isn't alone. The skill as it is right now is overpowered and anti-fun.

I don't mind if I'm unable to receive autobuffs on mount. I just don't like having to re-enable the autobuff skill because the pet is dispelled when I summon mount.

That's a load of crap, but that's my opinion.

That explains why nothing has been getting done for a year. I really wish you had control over dev things.

dang it sucks that i did not post this idea.
Hope you've seen it but ill post anyways.

The idea im suggesting is to close all pvp maps except for tiamaranta for a week? maybe less?
The thing i want to accomplish here is to pvp in tiamaranta, which obiviously is not being utilized for pvp atm.
Maybe custom teleporter thing is hard and stuff
but then i also hope to see some actions in tiamaranta, as it is also a good map to pvp in.

if other pvp maps, belu heiron silentra ingison gelk are closed, and tiamaranta is the only place for pvp,
im pretty sure people will start to pvp there
though there might be a zerg, all we have to do dat is for few days
and im sure people will pvp there even when other maps are reopened.

:D hope you see this josh and tell me about the idea xD

p.s this is wat i can think of to make pvp in tiamaranta, but if you have any other idea, please tell us, i rlly wana pvp in tiamaranta ;__;

well said josh, as much as people say "AM's DO NOTHING" we all know you guys do your best for the server, even with some bugs being unfixed, its a private server and cant be perfect, especially when everyone (depending on how they play and what class they play) wants different things
