Even then it's still debatable. Remember those Virtual Boy 3D headset's Nintendo released years ago? Those things, after like 30 minutes of consecutive, play would lead to bad headaches, possible vision problems, and who knows what else. Those things got released onto the market place and they didn't think they were harmful at all, but many people still complained about it. They probably just didn't think any bad would come from the headsets as they were meant to be used with the game much like, .Hack which uses more visor-esque headgear. Then again they never seem to realize the evil that can be caused by such things if misused.

 

You mean you don't have people walking around with crazy hair styles and BFSes where you live? Wow living in New York must really suck.

I know that Virtual Boy gave headaches and stuff as can modern TVs and Computer monitors if you stare at them too long with not break. But that's a lot different than having your brain fried just because you died in the game.

Also back in the virtual boy there weren't as tight as laws, regulations, and testing done. Nowadays(at least in 1st World countries) everything undergoes a shit ton testing and research before it's even cleared for the "beta" phase.

And even if they were found to be dangerous or it was discovered that someone with malicious intent could hack into them and cause all kinds of trouble the big wigs of these companies would do anything and everything they could to fix it if nothing more than to show that they actually give a shit about safety and such even though it would be more to protect their own reputation as I'm pretty sure no one wants to be known as one of the ones who run the company that made the latest gaming gadget that just killed thousands of people just because they didn't do a background check of the lead designer and he hacked it to fry the brains and kill everyone.

 

There are Microwaves communication devices and protocols. As a matter of fact, the whole idea of using microwaves as a medium for transmitting signals to the brain cortex and interrupt higher brain function systems via a Microwave signal is not a bad idea in itself. The main issue is how they allowed a cooking grade modulated device to be put in a home entertaining system like the Game Gear. I doubt Kayaba has built every 10.000 machines by itself to conceal the device. Its feasible, but not consequential with a mass produced thing.

The whole idea of VRMMOs just simple appeals to me in the highest degree.

And about the miss use. As long the specification are below the harm point, no matter how high you put power into it, it wont be able to be used as a weapon no matter what.

At the end of the day is just anime.

 

VRMMO's will definitely be reality one day. I just hope I live long enough to see it through to fruition. I'd love to actually experience one.

I have read the Light Novel. The anime was a pleasant surprise when it started. The Aincrad saga, first 14 episodes, for me was a roll and it was satisfying, minus some mishaps and some inconsistencies, that were present in the LN as well, but for some reason felt more noticeable in the Anime format.

ALO saga has me quite perplexed because in the LN, again, it was badass to read. And here feels very clumsy or like less kickass.

Might be just me... but still, quite happy to see it animated, along with Accel World.

 

An advantage to not reading the LN... it all looks pretty bad ass since you have nothing to compare it to (nothing with the same story at least).

 

When the anime ends I do strongly recommend you to go and read it. Its a nice piece of entertaining, and the following arcs after ALO are just too badass... Gun Gale Online mostly.

And since you like fap, I guess you do remember chapter 10 when Asuna strips and after the punch, Asuna is lying naked in th bed and Kirito is next to her... well, Kawagara Sensei did an "in between" mini chapter, that is very descriptive on what happened there... XD strongly recommended.
