question about screenshot..

Well uh.. i am not too much of a screenshot guy but i still would like to take ss to look back later
the problem is, ss does not get saved for some reason.

What I did was I formatted the computer, reinstalled Windows 7.
I did not want to go through few hours of downloading, so I just saved the whole client in my external hardrive,
then after the reinstallation was complete, I put the aion folder in programfiles 86 - ncsoft.
Now, the client location is not wrong, but it still does not save the screenshot.

I was just wondering if anyone knows solution on this?
When i press the ss key, it says the screenshot have been saved, but it isnt saved.

Anyone can help me out?

well damn i fixed this 1 be4 xd im not 100% sure which 1 of these but i know 1 of them will fix it. btw make sure u do link the client to the ncsoft launcher on ur pc by right clicking aion in the ncsoft launcher -> properties -> browse and locating bin32\aion.bin

anyways here it goes
1. open ur registry (type regedit into start menu search bar and run), find HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Aion\ and delete the whole entry (aion or client entry on the left side, either one should do it), it will get recreated on next run
2. rename/delete the system.cfg from inside ur aion folder (or move it out, ur choice), it will get recreated on next run

note: this will reset ur ingame graphics settings to default so set them again next time u play

one of those fixes it for sure. if u want u can try it separately and tell me which one xd that way i could add it to the client errors & fixes guide

theres always a first time xd after 3 years on the forums ive seen all sorts of things. usually i end up doing what most people should do, which is google the thing and see what solutions people offer on NA forums and elsewhere. after that, i tell people to test them out and TRY remember whatever worked xD i compiled most of the common issues into the client errors & fixes thread here

some of it gets outdated over time, some of it is uncertain since the same errors can be caused by several different things. i just try systematically figure out what fixes what and keep track of it

edit: this is odd, found another guy who said win 7 and aion have some issue where SS save at a totally wrong place this is where he said they saved for him

"C:\Users\Corey\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Pro gram Files (x86)\NCSoft\Aion\Screenshot"

instead of where they SHOULD be saved - in:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\NCSoft\Aion\Screenshot"

he said u can do a windows search, for example search for file Aion0012 or however many SS u think u took, itll find the location for u. anyways the registry and system.cfg should reset the save location back to the aion folder

but unfortunately, non of the solution actually fixes the problem.
The thing about my problem is that my ss number is at 1266, but because ive been pressing ss key for a bit, it just says that screenshot number 1363 hav been saved in screenshot folder, which i dont see. ;__;

 

do u have a screenshots folder in ur client at all? is anything in it? try move it out completely and see if it gets recreated when u play and take SS. if it doesnt, try make an empty Screenshots folder urself and see if they go inside

btw u still didnt say if ur game is linked to the ncsoft launcher. worst case u can try repair the game later

 

it gives that message and when i fully cancel, cause i dont want my aion deleted, it says that aion is installed and it requires an update. I guess it means that it is linked though? or no?

and the screenshot folder thingy.. when i removed the ss folder i had, and took ss, it started from ss number 0. however, it did not recreate the screenshot folder. So i made it myself, it still does not take ss. I have a feeling though that this might be linked to administrator permission, because it also does not create system.cfg back on after i removed it from the folder.

 

oh right windows 7 sooo turn off user account control (best option) or right click the launcher and run it as admin. to turn it off go to control panel -> users/user accounts -> UAC (last option) and drag the slider all the way down. u might need to restart ur pc

actually its a new issue identical to the guy i mentioned above with the virtustore bs. my suggestion is go to that folder the ncsoft launcher mentioned and copy out any screenshots u wanna save, then allow ncsoft launcher to delete the folder so it gets created properly inside program files. also if the game wants an update, let it update. gamez supports the latest version

that should fix everything. ive never heard of the virtustore thing be4, just googled it today. if u do fix it, tell me the steps so i can add them to the guide. thx
