Retail free-to-play

Is there anyone playing retail except Gamez Aion?

I was thinking of starting a character because few of my friends got interest for it, and I think I'mma try it also. However, I know things are a little bit different there, but I don't know how much. Are there still any players twinking, or mostly lvl 60 and pvping with a decent gear? Anyone of you knows about the restrictions for Free-to-play edition, is crafting with such restrictions and getting decent gear even possible? Also, does anyone know how should I start from nothing in retail, should I just lvl up to 60 and then get gear or?

Thanks for the help, I know it's a little awkward that I ask it here and not on Aion Forum, but I think that there are people who are playing Gamez and retail Aion and who know how to compare these two.

 

Depends on the retail (NA/EU) and on the servers age (Spatalos, Kahrun whatever) . The older the server is, the maxed the players are and overgeared. Yea, it's retail but there are players 'overgeared' on level 60. It's the same game after all, same players, different places and rates. So there's not a big difference, than the fact that you can get almost everything ingame with a lot of work.. And the ping is ''isdboiasudhfboaisudf''. xd

 

4.0 is going to abolish twinking altogether, with no experience debt on death until level 49.

I play on NA Siel Elyos currently. Its been pretty fun, it seems to be a balance between both elyos and asmodians so its not like one side is super dominant.

Also, Courier passes are available to trade untradable items (Some exceptions exist, like cant mail Tiamat Guard stuff), and there's CONSTANT events everywhere.

 

I started to play on valhalla(new german server) and it's super easy to get gear...it's harder to get acd gear on gamez I got my gear only by farming guards cuz now they drop medals and ap.

 

Like um, how long will it take for a player to get geared (preferably decent PvP gear) ? And im talking about like.. without any kind of donations of course "i ain't paying for a game".

 

I started to play 2 weeks ago and i almost bought the 5th acd part and all the kahrun acc...easy to get gear if u have friends full geared and pass everything for u at guards xD

 

I believe it's easy because you have full geared friends, but I'm starting solo and I have no friends atm.

Is there any possible way of getting decent gear w/o any friends.. I was thinking of crafting an decent set then pvping with it and waiting untill i slowly get the right amount for rest, but the restrictions for collecting, crafting and rest are too high so it would take me months. By the way, you got 4 parts acd and to lvl 60 in 2 weeks?

 

EU retail became private long time ago, achievements system is ridiculous in there, its easy to get even the best gear but HUGE problem with socketing manastones and enchanting ur items, server makin big money from it. I play 1 year and 3 moths on Telemachus server and i don't recommend you to start there.Servers are at 3.5 version now and nobody knows when is 4.0 .

 

Yeah, it took me a little while to level, about a month or so realistically, and a couple months to gear relatively well. I'm still finishing GCC accessories now.
