Most likely crappy on-motherboard graphics card is failing. You can't really run a game like aion with a weak video. I would suggest installing windows 7 as it's much much better than XP and will improve your gameplay.

Have you tried using the repair option? NCSoft Launcher > Right click Aion > Repair.

Give it a shot, hope it helps =)

But my best bet still remains the video card. Hope i'm wrong though.

Is it only balaur that do that? Do player models still function properly or do those show up eerie as well?

As the others said, you can Repair and see if it fixes the Issue. If it does not, then it's your Video Card probably. But if it was your Video Card and not some Texture/Mesh issue, your Framerate would be way too low, how's your FPS right now?

You can check your FPS through your potions. Press "O" > Options > Graphics Options and look for the Display FPS. Tick it and hit apply.

If your machine isn't good it's normal to lag in Gelk. I used to lag a lot there due to the many players fighting and the area itself. Something you can do to reduce that is turning your graphics options to as low as you can and then pressing Shift + F12. That will make the characters outside of your party invisible. You'll only see their names until you select them. Once you target someone you can see his toon. Helps quite a bit if your computer isn't very good.

Did you try repairing the client yet?

Win 7 isnt really recommended for weak hardware as it has a much higher overhead (background services etc). Aion in itself is pretty ram hungry and Win 7 uses up a lot of it

I don't think it is a graphics card issue since it would affect graphics everywhere equally and not just specific objects. I would try several things though.

    1. repair the client in case some of the texture files are corrupted
    2. try progressively lower your graphics settings and uncheck the different effects ingame to see if at any point mobs/items load properly
    3. reinstall directx since a lot of visual bugs are caused by issues with rendering
    Download DirectX 9.0c (Jun 10) - Download - FileHippo.com
extract, run dxsetup.exe, restart your pc when done. i would say it is unlikely it is directx this time though

My PC wasn't really 'good' but when I switched from XP to 7 my gameplay improved and I could notice it. + His PC stats aren't super bad, just his video card.

If you ever need good performance while gaming with a on-board graphics card.. You have to install a x64 Windows 7 (which is really good for gaming also).. It will use all your RAM memory for the computer personal use and for the graphics card.. Otherwise with x86 XP it only uses like half or 3/4 and the graphics card can't feed on RAM memory and of course it gives you trouble.

Well there is the tradeoff, his XP is 32bit so it is seeing 3-3.5gb of his RAM, Win 7 64bit can see all of it, but eats up the extra for itself xd

Could be most of Aion client file corrupted or PC drivers messing up, you should upgrade you PC drivers and repair the aion client, so you can see if the issue continues.
