Help Which plating looks better?

Colleagues are planning a house visit and I'm thinking what courses to prepare for it. This one is for the salad course. Fresh Lettuce, onions and tomatoes with Hollandaise sauce, boiled eggs, bacon, cheese, Lengua Estofado and ham.

 

I prefer the left one

Both look fine . I do prefer the second one(right) though . Anyhow , i ll be cool with a frape ;p

Left one, it has more geometric and fine shape, the right one looks like a bunch of something, like you just threw it on plate.

However they both look very delicious, I hope they will enjoy it.

Well, in culinary it is fine to just throw it all in the plate as long as it's neat, looks good most importantly appetizing. We even put stuffs in it even though people wont eat it simply for decoration purposes, like literally throwing all you can to it Examples:

I also cook although I'm a male, hope it doesn't make me gay but w.e.

When I cook, I try that some parts make sense, that they are related. Yeah you can throw something on a piece and it looks fine, but it still has some order. Btw the pics look delicious, but when f.e. I do a pile decoration, I do it in shape similar to this:





However, when my dish looks like crap, which happened it alot of times (both of yours are beautiful, I'm not saying yours are crap ), I payed off with a good taste. <it's the impression of the food itself, presentation isn't that important always.

 

I know what you mean. I studied culinary and there we were taught how to do plating and for a simple reason: Presenting your food is also important because we eat with our eyes first. And of course, of course, the taste should be our main priority, plating is definitely easy. It should not be complicated specially if you're not in a competition. For it to be good looking and appetizing is enough that is why I didn't put much effort on the right side photo and as you can see I just used the same ingredients from the left because I was experimenting and I literally used the same pieces and cuts of food for the photos.

I choose the left since even my friends said they prefer the left. The right would be nice only if I added some color or sauce on it which is unnecessary so I wont bother doing it.

And no, cooking men doesn't make them gay. When I was working in a fine dining restaurant for my On-Job Training after my culinary course, most of the chefs I met were males. Pastry chefs were mostly women. But our executive and sous chef were "fat" males

Since I'll be making the left it might be just finger food but I'll keep a fork on their side (for the lettuce) but it's up to them

 

oh nice... might be wise putting a knife just incase they dont want their hands to get dirty until the main comes lol ..

what are you preparing for the main and dessert?
