OK guys so i need to know if anyone else knows if there is anything better to record with other than fraps. My major problem with fraps is i get insane fps spikes that i haven't been able to remove ( my computer runs aion on 80 fps and it drops to 6 sometimes on fraps)so i need suggestions on any other program you guys are using and if you say bandicam i want reasons. TANK YOU MAM/SIRS WEW

edit: game recorder* haven't had coffee yet don't judge me.

if you have a good computer which affords this program to work properly then:
PlayClaw : Game Video Recorder alternative, Game Screen Capture, Ventrilo Teamspeak overlay, Game Recorder
other than this would be bandicam which is set to be able to record hd up to 2600x1500/1600 (not sure) resolutions - the paid version not trial ofc x3.
also there is d3dgear which is really cool and works smoothly and their dev team keeps updating the program so it's not a dead cause and you could start using it and do that for the rest of your "gaminglife".

I would go with Bandicam. Size of video is like x5 times smaller. Give it a shot, the quality is pretty much the same.

The only reason some will prefer bandicam than fraps it's because the size of the videos are way smaller. I honesly don't know about which one would have the greatest impact in your fps while recording some action. Also make sure your settings are configurated to record with the max FPS or it could lag you instantly when starting the record. You're saying your aion runs at 80fps (which is honestly useless above 65fps :p) and it can go down to 8fps while recording. Is that recording some huge zerg or a simple normal pvp?

Useless above 59 or 60 fps, that is the refresh rate of most standard screens xd 3d supporting screens have a refresh rate of 120 mostly, in which case it could show a bit, though tbh 30 is considered smooth and 60+ is a range where ur eyes can't really tell the difference anyway xD

Oh wow... Yeah there's something wrong with your fraps then.
Well I suggest trying bandicam, at max quality you will hardly see any difference between fraps max quality, well... just that it's smaller.
I can run aion at 60fps on max graphics and recording a 25x25 event goes to 20fps.

    Yeah i know hunnie =p

oh btw , there is also mirillis's "Action!" and it's pretty awesome :3. better than fraps or any other recorders so far. a friend of mine bought it about 2 months ago. it's from the same producers of the bluray movie player: splash pro which is an epic application for cinephiles.

Yes, ACTION is a pretty good program. I think u gotta pay for it to get rid of the logo on your video. But there's a free trial one u can record as long as you want for 30 days i believe. The only down side is that stupid logo on top of your video.... anyways, give it a try it works really good for me and my PC isn't even that great, it's just enough to run aion on medium settings :p.
