Annoying NCSoft launcher

Hey guys, my head is about to explode to this NCLauncher for aion. I dont know how to deal with this anymore. Can anyone out there give me a guide?

When I start gamez, it only says: Aion [1024] Failed to initialize the game. -- The system cannot find the path specified.

 

Put the Gamez Launcher inside Aion's folder.

 

It is inside the Aion's folder.

 

Is this a fresh install? Or an old one that you updated? Chances are, it might be your item pak messing with it.

 

old one updated. It only happened after I update NCsoft launcher.

 

Did you even downgrade? Cuz Retail is 4.0 and we're still at 3.7.

 

I tried downgrading and it's still happening.

 

You must have messed something up.

I would try with deleting whole Bin32 folder and repairing. Then following the downgrade carefully again. See if you get it to work.

I tried repairing and updating with the new ncsoft launcher because the old one was uninstalled. it said:
"[Update Error] Cannot open file.
Please check whether the file is being used by another program or an anti-virus program is denying access, then restart the launcher. If this problem persists, please contact Customer Support at NCSOFT Game and Technical Support.

Mmmmmmmmm.... make sure your AVirus program isn't messing with the files. Also make sure you have no Aion related things running. Just NCsoft launcher.

I really don't know much about all these errors as I haven't experienced them. Never updated my client to 4.0. =/ Might be better if you wait for Smartik. He might have a solution.

 

Meh some guy asked me the exact same thing with the update issue in a pm, so I will just copy paste it here:

Several things can do that. First of all, when dealing with aion make sure your user account control is off (tbh that is the first thing I turn off when I get on a pc, that garbage causes way too many problems because of restricted access). Open task manager and kill the following

ncsoftupdatehelper.exe - if it is there, the launcher usually keeps it running so you seed the client, the new launcher is basically a torrent. you can turn peer-to-peer off in the launcher settings

searchindexer.exe - this is a windows function that indexes files so you can search for the later, it can keep a file in use for a while as it is being indexed. you can just kill the process.

You can get iobit unlocker (or another unlocker) which can show you which process is using a file, break the link to the process or even kill the process. I mainly use it to delete corrupted files that are always in use by the system and therefore can't be deleted the normal way

In your case I would right click the launcher and run it as administrator, that should prevent any issues. If you get this error while patching, just confirm the error and hit update again, it should continue where it left off.

By the way a simple pc restart should stop these files from being used.

 

I did everything and after the error the error appears and I click confirm and update again, it goes back to 0. Then error appears again.

 

Is it always the same file? Did you try any of the korean voice pack crap in the past? Because the guy PMing me seems to have the same problem with the same main folder, except with this one:

Get in touch with tengenemoo and see if you can work it out together. See what programs you share (antivirus, operating system etc) to find out what is causing it. It might just be the NCsoft launcher screwing up as usual.

I would suggest closing the programs I told you and going to the location the error describes. Try renaming the file. If it lets you then it is fine but you might wanna delete it before repairing anyway. If it doesn't let you, then it is in use and you should definitely get rid of it because there is something wrong with it.

 

Its always the same file. I ended ncsoftupdatehelper.exe and searchindexer.exe.

 

Did you delete that file? Might wanna trash the whole L10N folder since that one is related to languages in general, the other dude used a japanese voice pack be4 which could be the reason he has issues now.

 

Reinstall the whole entire retail client get the 4.0 to 3.7 patch and items and map packs and stop dealing with your corrupted game, I'd just fully uninstall and start fresh.

 

I try to avoid that but sometimes that is the faster method xd If you are on a bandwidth limit you can't really do that with like 18-20gb of data to be downloaded.
