Last night, I started the Gamez Aion launcher, but my anti-virus stopped it because of a malware it detected. My fiancee told me to ignore it because her anti-virus said nothing like that.

I did, so whatever. It looks like it's deleted some files, but I'm not sure. I get an error message when I attempt to update, that says:

After I got that error, the client would not launch at all. I decided that I would try and update the current version of Aion. I still get that error (and I would like to know what that means, if it's causing my current problem now, and how I can resolve it) but at least the client will start.

That brings me to my next problem: I'm getting an error saying "You are already logged in. (7)" when I first enter my password. The second time I enter it, it takes my password, and then it takes me to the next screen, and I click enter, and then I get "No connection to the Authorization Server. (6)"

I'm running on a 64-bit Windows 8 Operating System. I did have a file that I would change my bin32 folder that would eliminate the latter problem, but I'm unaware as to where I can find it. I thought I had bookmarked it just in case, but it appears that I haven't.

Anyways, I was able to play just fine before I got my new anti-virus. I feel that my anti-virus may have deleted a malware file (it did that when I was attempting to install Tera via the uTorrent link on their download page.) I had to have the uTorrent check the download and download the missing files and then make my anti-virus take a chill pill until I was able to install it. I would hate to have to download and install Aion again because I'm missing a file (and it takes almost thirty-six hours to do so), and I cannot find a repair button anywhere on their launcher. I'd rather take the more preferred route and try and fix the problem manually. Thanks in advance for any help.

EDIT: It appears that after updating, the retail launcher decided to take a hike.
EDIT: Never mind, I found it in my Aion folder. It was checking files, so I'm going to check whether on not it's willing to cooperate.
EDIT TO MY LAST EDIT: It's kind of like "lol nope **** you dude."

Its seems like your User Account Control (UAC) is blocking it from connecting. turn it off and restart your comp

User Account Control? What the heck is that?

LOL, ignore that. I'm some sort of idiot. Hold on, testing.

I just tried that, it didn't work.

Additionally, why is the launcher asking me to update every single time I open it? I keep updating, and it keeps giving me that error.

If, by chance your anti-virus did decide to delete the files. You should reinstall the games aion launcher; it should reinstall them.

Also, you can set permissions in your anti-virus for it ignore / allowed whatever it is thinking is a malware.

I'm attempting to reinstall the launcher now. It just told me that it couldn't be installed because access to d3d8thk.dll was denied or whatever. I just deleted that file from my bin32 and I'm trying again right now.

Okay, yeah, it's not reinstalling whatsoever. I'm still getting the error that access to the file 'd3d8thk.dll' was denied, even after I've deleted it. It somehow just reappears. What now?

Well, whether the d3d8thk.dll file is there or not, it's giving me that error. I don't think it's a matter of whether it's malware (and I already added the file to my anti-virus exclusion list), it's the fact that the launcher doesn't install at all.

Go to your AION folder > open BIN32 folder > Delete this file "d3d8thk.dll" > Download and reinstall GamezAion launcher > make sure to overwrite > Update launcher once > Start the game. That should fix it.

I've tried that, but the launcher says that access to that file was denied. It continues to say so, even after I delete that file. It somehow reappears.

You need to run the launcher as Administrator.

Right Click the shortcut ---> Properties ----> Advanced ----> Run as Administrator

That will allow it to have access to whatever it will need =)

To do this: Control Panel ----> User Accounts -----> Change User Account Control Settings

On the little scrollie bar, Select one of the lowest 2 (I know sounds insane) however, it will help,

Also, after BOTH of these changes, you will need to restart your computer.

^ Follow this or disable your User Account Control for the mean time then restart PC and try the method again.

You would think so, but for whatever reason, it still denied access to that file.

Also, I did change my user account control. That didn't work, either.

Anyways, I was able to get my anti-virus to ignore the d3d8thk.dll that it thought was a malware file, and I was finally able to reinstall the launcher. It's working fine now, thanks!
