A childhood favourite would be my first anime, Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040
Introduced me to robots and all I could remember were robots penetrating monsters and manually squeezing their hearts to kill them.

*points to Avatar and Signature* My favourite is obviously Bakemonogatari, or rather the Monogatari Series adapted by Shaft.

It's definitely not the first anime I've watched but it was the first I've experienced in such an unique and particular style that differs from what other Anime studios have done.

My favorite anime is enma ai jigoku shoujo or hell girl

I like it because i like the cute and mysterious enma, and i like the story too, its about revenge, injustice, hatred.

There is a good quote from hell girl....

Macross Plus

Why:

Was the first time I saw a deep human plot in a package of a mecha without resorting to childish issues, without being apocalyptic and without being too pop, and without the "power of friendship" like all shows seems to resort now.
All the characters represent something we all struggle for, they were adults, dealing as adults, and done so very crafty.
In the show department the mecha design was something that blew my mind many times over, i went and bought the book of Shoji Kawamori.
And the action was something that I have never seen before.

Te Music was incredible, the concert section simply makes a show inside a show. Would be great if the concert could last 2 hours of only that.
It was so great that I went and got the 2 soundtrack albums, The Sharon Apple specials and the movie version soundtrack.I regret nothing.

The YF-21 and the Ghost X-9 fight simply stands as maybe the best mecha battle ever, even until today. The show is ageless, you can watch it today and still feel it a fresh and good; better than mostly the 90% of what you see today.

If we are still talking About "What is your single favorite anime" i Would like to share that my one single favorite anime is Naruto, I have been watching Naruto Since like when i was 10 or so It is an Amazing Story of a Person Never backing down on his word and always pushing forward, I mean seriously it can be your inspiration too rofl .. Anyways to make things short i love Naruto to the Moon and back

 

R.O.D. (READ OR DIE). It's my favorite. I cant say a reason because I just cant. :3

I would totally watch Macross except the fact that I can't really stand watching mecha animes anymore. I don't know why but they just don't really appeal to me.
