can someone please help me. i haven't had any antivirus since i had my pc formatted and i am thinking that viruses has started attacking my pc since it runs so slow even though i have a fair amount of ram, i have 4GB. i cant open my task manager and registry edit and whenever i am watching videos in the internet it is lagging alot and i can't use the system restore function

i cant really pay for an antivirus now because i got no work yet. i need a free antivirus that can eliminate viruses and malwares just fine (if there's any) i tried some and it just scans viruses and doesn't eliminate them. please give me a pm or just reply it down here thank you :/

well any free antivirus that has an expiration will do as long as i can assure that the antivirus i will be using really removes the viruses i have, even if i can use it for 30days only, its fine with me

it is kind of funny that i cant search any of this and other anitiviruses. google is giving me an "oops!", "webpageis not available" and "google couldn't find" errors. iguess that the virus also stops me from searching for antiviruses for me dl and install @_@

^That actually is good enough to prevent the common threats. Not as sophisticated as others but least it doesn't interfere with Gaming or drain RAM.

I use both AVG and Avast. They work great.

I would also recommend you use Crap Cleaner, Bit Defender, and Spybot if you don't already have those. They are great at cleaning out all the extra crap and any spyware your main Antivirus may have missed.

Yes I'm making a helpful post. I do that every now and then what's it to ya!?

If you are an experienced user and you know what you are doing i would also recommend you to use Spyware Terminator. I don't know if its free but you should check it.

I would highly discourage anyone from using 2 antivirus programs at once. Not only do they unnecessarily use up system resources, in many cases they conflict with each other when an infection is found.

I find avast the best out there at the moment. It works really well and doesn't really require any user interactions once you have it besides registering within the program once a year to renew updates (takes like 30 seconds, fake name/email, it accepts anything, no confirmation needed). 1 thing about avast is that you have to uncheck a few boxes in the settings the first time you get it to stop 1 of its annoying features, other than that it is perfect. I particularly like the "software updater" menu that checks the version of all your utilities/plugins and tells you when there is an update (flash, java, winrar, vlc player, acrobat reader etc.)

As for when you actually do have an infection, I would recommend running Spybot Search & Destroy scan. It is not an antivirus in a sense that it does not run in the background actively scanning everything. It is a 1 time scan that lasts ~15 minutes and so far fixed every issue I saw on a pc I was fixing (adware, toolbars, browser homepage/search engine hijacks, keyloggers, viruses etc.)

The last piece of the puzzle is a registry cleaner as antivirus programs don't really deal with registry issues. For a free one I would recommend CCleaner, for a paid/cracked one, I like Advanced Systemcare (it is free, but the Pro version has a deep scan for the registry which CCleaner doesn't).
