I use crit/MA on my chanter for dps.

For skills. That is something you have to play with.

For hitter type, use Attack/MA, Crit/MA and MA/Crit manastones.....

For support type, use MR manastones (FULL)...........

    Me use 2 set.

    MA/Crit + Leather gloves = hitter type.

MR full + Cloth gloves = Support type.

    Hi!

Chanter can be played in 2 ways.
I'll describe it as if you were playing with the stigma system.

You can either play DPS, that's more a solo build.
Chanter is a strong solo class as it's pretty tanky; can heal itself and inflict some decent dmg with this stigma tree.
For this kind of build, I'd avise you to play with MA.Crit manastones on your set (that's 30 slots) and Atk.Crit on your Staff (that's 12 slots).
You should also use crit accessories (you can find 2 main types of accessories in-game, Magic and Crit; Crit accessories are caracterised by Accuracy stats, while magic ones are caracterised by Magical Accuracy)

Here is a stigma build example for this way of playing chanter:

You can change some stigmas to accord the build to your way of playing.

The second way of playing chanter is support.
It's very usefull in groups but lacks dmg when played solo.
Basically what you do is Heal/Support while others Kill.
There are 2 main stigma builds for this way of playing: full Magic Resist+16 (42 slots) or full Block+29 (42 slots).
You can also find gear with ancient manastones slots; you can use MR+19 and Block+33 on those.

I play support and use several shields and headgears depending on the situation; i also have a second set with block if needed.. But i mainly use the full MR set.
Here are my stigmas. You can replace Rise I with Word of Life if you feel like you need a AoE instant heal.

It was said above that using a cloth handgear was usefull. That is true for the support build; because you'll need casting speed; but Arbiter Chain Gloves also have casting speed..

Max casting speed you can reach is 0.6 (0.3 with Word of Quickness)
Max atk speed you can reach is 1.0

Best advice i could give you is to read all your skills and know what they do, and if you're playing on Siel, to focus on 1 part of the class at the start, or you'll get lost in the tons of skills available.
You could also read this section: http://forum.gameznetwork.com/forums/guides.64/ to understand game mechanics a bit better.

    Happy Gaming.
    Kretia
