The server has crashed!

I find it hard to believe someone didn't tell him yet, and is he the ONLY guy that has access to the server?

I still remember the good old days during aion 1.5 where every1 can play peacefully and happily with very very few crash/lag

The server is experiencing a partial (getting close to full) crash. I think Zodake already left carl a note, so it will be restarted/fixed as soon as carl gets it.

If you want to run a private server and expect a big population and take peoples money then you should equate for these factors and upgrade server to handle a higher network load...this population is actually comparitavley small in comparrison to some other private servers *not stating aion ones just other games*, for example my old WoW server had a 15,000 account population with about 6-10,000 active at one time.

You have to spend money to keep this type of server updated and able to handle the network load. I am not sure if that has been implemented since server started yet here, would have to ask some people who have been around longer...

He is also forgetting to take into account that the Emulation involved in creating a private aion server is relatively new, and so is -very- far from perfect, unlike WoW where the emulation required for that is rather old, and contains infinitely less problems.

yeah it might be a new game and there aint enough patches and infomation on how to fix current aion bugs agreed but these lame ass crashes and lag spikes are from server side so that means you guys are failing seriously if you improved the server and made it more stable maybe people might start donating regularly hmm? coz atm i dont see any reason why people should donate server crashes everyday lag spikes common sit down and work together and read similar stories on how to fix the server and maybe u might find some new info on bugged skills etc just an idea

I was not forgetting this factor at all quite the contrary you just need someone who is experienced in the Emulation of that type of server, and for the comparitive time frame of setting up private servers Aions emulation system is not really new.

The game itself was first previewed at the E3 expo in 2006 and the game itself was release in SK in November 2008. The first private servers available on Aion were already being emulated in SK by the start of 2009, China quickly followed with many private servers going live before even the release of Aion in China (although these of course were not fully functioning, the SK and Chinese private servers here are already running pretty good versions of 2.0 now, but of course this is heavy chinese and korean populations so english is nearly non-existent apart from small following of ex-patirots living abroad).

This period of time is more than enough for any talented developer to instigate a private server and 2 years is more than enough time to learn the emulation software, it is all relative to your programming ability and how much time you spend focused on it.

This is not meant to be a negative post about this server just stating the basis of setting up an Aion server and was simply saying that it depends how much money you want to spend on something will depend how good it is.

If you hire a great development team you will get the best of something like in retail but the reality of private servers is, who is a developer who has ample free time to waste on a private server for little money, which in reality to a dev who would be working for Microsoft or major software company their salary is much higher than you could ever get in private server and the ones who work for game company all have legal obligations, so it is really only the casual devs who have a desire to do it....and we are all very happy they do...just wish it to always get better not worse as was stated in a post above about the change in playability from 1.5>1.9:whistling:
