    Sorry, what?

Am I the only one around here who is seriously bothered by this? As far as I'm concerned language proficiency is technically immeasurable for the language itself is being upgraded and developed by its every user. One can't even attain 100% - that would require possessing more knowledge than all the people who lived or are currently alive, together, about said language.

And to see almost all applicants complying with it. Tsk.

I speak Hawaiiana and English, but I speak English 85% of the time since so few of my friends and co-workers speak the language. I'm pretty sure they are talking about to what degree is each utilized. Someone might speak english, but as most languages go. You tend to suffer in proficiency if you don't practice it enough, those who speak French and English nearly in balance would be directed to pay attention to forum posts and messages written in those languages. <-- At least that's the only use I can see for the information.

Some people like to describe their skills using percentages, I do not see the problem with that. Anyway that has been there for quite a while now, I think it's acceptable as long as the applicants can express themselves. Nobody can assess how much one knows in a language however it could give staff a clearer understanding on how much the applicant thinks they know, as we cannot really rely on a guess just by looking at an applicants form.

Anyways, is this going to be a discussion about a suggestion to re-define the application form or about silly memes?

Shouldn't it be classified according to the level of skill of the language? Like A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2. Sounds more logical to me, but I guess not many people are familiar with this system even it's getting used everywhere around the world. *sighs*

    Yeah, percentages are stupid.
But most people don't even know whether they are A1, A2, B1 etc... so yeah.
Rather than that, I believe the words "Beginner", "Intermediate", "Fluent" and "Native" would suffice.

Have you even mastered N4 of the JLPT? Only if you mastered N4 will you graduate from the weebs and begin to tap into the higher level stuff. Then fun starts from there. Trust me.

You can either add a percentage or words such as basic, intermediate, proficient, native to describe how good you speak such language.
I don't see the point of opening a thread just to point this out.
