I decided we should (me, TGS, kecimis, and the other people) could continue our discussions here. i don't understand why its bad to point out the issues related to dev work in this server. Criticism should not be censored :<

Contrary to a few people's beliefs here, good things never hapen out of someone's "decency." First thing you learn when you study anything even closely related to business or money or economics. PEOPLE ARE FUELED BY SELF INTEREST. So if someone recieves no criticism, earns money, and does minimal work, ofc they will continue doing that. No one changes things up if people do not complain. No one wants to. Criticism is the fuel for change, and unfortunately, real life examples are all to prevalent for you not to be argue with me on that.

I hope this thread can stay alive, a healthy discussion that focuses on suggestions MAINLY for carl but for everyone else, in an attempt to instigate a change that will truly TRULY better the community. I mean think about it, if us, as a community, can convince him to change a few things, gamez would not crash, it'd be 2.0, and we'd have some awesome custom stuff. Of course, this is two pronged. Suggestions and criticisms need to be made, and people need to donate with a grain of salt. I have talked to Carl, and as long as he is getting paid, nothing will change. Thats just the type of guy he is. But these criticisms may actually cause an iota of change. So feel free to post your articulated thoughts, I truly hope we can shift gamez off its downward spiral

 

We have no devs. What else is there to discuss?

 

I'm just posting because I'm killing time until I go skydiving in a few hours. But it's really interesting to watch this community and server. I've been following it for a few months now and I've seen some things which honestly would embarrass the shit out of me if it happened on my server.

On one hand, I can totally understand why Carl does the shit he does. It's basically free money. Just go on once a day and restart, then maybe once every few weeks update from AionLightning. If I was a bastard, I'd be all about that. Especially if it was pulling in a few thousand a week for me.

On the other hand, since I'm not a careless douchebag, it actually bothers me to see him making money off you guys for doing nothing. Especially when there are servers out there who actually have an inhouse dev team (for example, I'm a dev) who actually give back to their players.

What's worse is, servers like Gamez make the entire private server community look bad. Players will just assume that all the others are just as bad. Which isn't true. I'd say most are, but there are a handful which really try.

When I first started reading your forums, I thought "wow, maybe we'll finally have competition". But sadly, that's not the case. Gamez is no threat. It never has been. Not in size, and certainly not in development. I just pity the people who play here, they could be having a lot more fun. And they deserve more from Carl.


Edit: And for those who don't know, I'm a dev of a very large server. So I know how things SHOULD be run. I think the fact that Carl got rid of Paypal just so people couldn't get refunds shows what he's really about.

 

Quit trying to make people feel bad here by criticizing them. There is no point in criticism when all there is left is hate. Criticism is not a solution to everything mister. Not saying you can't though, but there really is no point.

I will personally unlock any thread that gets locked on this discussion unless the thread gets out of hand and becomes a gigantic flame post.

There's absolutely no reason why people can't discuss things freely, and I'm tired of posts getting closed that are simply discussions. We aren't here to hold down or silence the community, so go ahead and discuss, I won't let this thread be closed on you, just try not to flame too much.

 

thx ed, btw tgs has a point lol, would u work if u get money for free? xD i read that "new donation system" thread where people want even more methods for donating in hope to fix the server, yet the amount of money he gets wont make him work harder to get things working. on the contrary, the more money u get for free the less u care about anything id say ^^

there r a few things that would need to happen to get somewhere

1. carl would need to care about his own server (yeah if we cant get this 1 done there really is no point discussing any further)
2. he should treat his gms/devs with some respect and perhaps give them the power to get stuff done if he wont
3. probably not necessary if people care enough but maybe pass some of that cash to the devs to motivate them and bring in more. from what i see we really need them right now

 

We won't know what Carl buys for donated money. What we know is that gamez doesn't have a dev team. The hell with team, there isn't even one dev.

So I guess it's a matter of time before bugs will eat this server.

 

um...they already r. the reason most devs/gms quit is coz he doesnt care about the people that basically do all the work for him (for free might i add). with this reputation, no dev is gona eagerly rush in to save his ass. not with the way he treats them. lol the server would have to break down completely for him to actually notice that the money stopped coming

 

It's sad what Gamez has turned to.
I've had enough of this , and I'll probably quit.
I've had a great time with DTK,but since they all left I've got nothing to do here anymore aswell.
Hopefully sometime Gamez will change into a better place to play at , because right now it's not worth the 1# server rank.

P.S : TGS I know who you are and will probably join your server. ( I WON'T ADVERTISE SHIT SO DON'T EVEN ASK ME IN PRIVATE >_> )

 

hard not to know who TGS is, but the point is that certain things need to change. No dev even wants to work here in the environment carl has set up, and most p servers have a lot more to offer than gamez already.

 

And the thread is already going down the path I knew it would. All possible discussion is going to be accusations, mistakes of the past, and doom and gloom about the future. There will be no progress made as a result of this topic other than to let people grumble. There is no developer reading this topic that can benefit from knowing player's complaints.

We have no devs. Everyone knows it and in the end all that matters in relation to this topic until we get some.

 

we all know the #1 place is solely due to free credits for ABG sets given for voting xD if u check the vote results its mainly the outgoing count thats higher than all the others nobody really votes FOR it lol. and yeah atm im waiting for that unnamed server to go online as well ^^

u mean mistakes of the present. as far as i can see carl doesnt bother to read this, let alone learn from it. its not just the past if hes still doing it

 

its not towards devs smartie. its about them and carl and his "dev" work

carl knows all his devs quit, most of the gms quit, he even knows WHY they quit but he as long as the money keeps flowing there is no reason to do anything about it. to him its a big YAY less people to deal with

 

no...its a thread to make him realize he can't just keep driving away devs. I mean, without advertising, look at the stuff other servers are working on:
