[SUGGESTION] Auto restart

and what if a gm turnes rogue and as revenge he does some good dmg at the srv...thats why carl doesnt trust any1 with the srv restart

thats why u limit them, let them restart only once every 3 hours, and what dmg can they do? reset the server every 3 hours?

lol, I wouldn't mind a RR every 3 hours at all.

 

The best option would be if when the server crashes, players should write //restart or smtn like that, and if we reach about 50-100 players who wrote it in, the server restarts. It's used in the new l2s too.

You guys are so funny. Can't restart a deadlocked server. Gotta close it out completely and start it up again. A deadlocked server won't respond to commands. Same if there's a bunch of memory leaks and it uses up all available memory. Can't just "restart' it. You have to end the entire thing and launch if from new.

I'd love to see Carl's settings for MySQL and his batch file for launching the server. I bet both are lulzy.

 

... Actually the thing wich u said = "Restart" and it can be done even for m the Phone wich has WAP 2.0 or better ... The reason of "Programming" is exacly that way ... your cuple of words under one button.

it was possible with L2 ... so there is nothing impossible... mayeb they sure are lazy or very bussy ...

I think maybe an autorestart every day when most people are offline, also back to the suggestion Acheron had of wiping/purging accounts that have been inactive for a few months, would probably reduce lag.

 

In knight online (private server) you have to restart server once a day or else it would crash.

CUSTOMERS are not always right, if they were I could walk into a store, proclaim that said item is free, and walk out.

And yes, you are the community, and i agree that a community is needed, but as such, the administration can just go "Life would be easier without this" and just unplug it, nothing you can do will stop them from doing that, the only reason they're doing this is probably because they like providing a free service for people or they just like hosting things, but whatever their intentions are, they really don't have to listen to the community and can run things how they want.

Oh and I don't think it matters when the automatic restarts will be. It takes aprox. 3 mins to restart, players won't mind.

your an idiot. first off, doesn't matter if they are right or wrong. customers hold the power. why the hell would people spend resources to making rubber bands that take the shape of animals? Because idiotic customers are willing to pay for them.

Secondly, the only reason people make p servers is to eventually benefit from money. providing free service is plain stupid since there is a theoretical risk involved. no one does naything out of the "goodness" in their heart. everyone is fueled by self-interest.

Finally, Carl doesn't want to unplug it. he's getting money from it, so why should he? But there lies the problem, people are using backwards logic here. They think donations are actually benefitting the server. Lets be realistic, nothing has changed, and most likely, nothing will change. Without any reason to change, carl won't. It makes no sense to waste effort and time to optimize this server when he rakes in cash and lets things fall apart like they have been.

Now of course, I don't condone anything, I just disliked how you have never heard of basic economics =(
