So my friend's relationship recently ended due to the fact that his girlfriend wanted kids and he didn't. I am curious about people's opinions on kids here in general and what proportion of people wants vs doesn't want them. This poll has 2 parts so pick one answer for each (based on your gender of course). Poll results can be viewed after you submit your vote. Would it be a "deal breaker" for you if you wanted kids and your partner didn't (and vice versa)?

Feel free to elaborate in a post below :)

You'll have to adopt, I'm afraid. Two men can't have a child.

It's absolutely a deal breaker (especially for a woman), however your question depends highly on the circumstances as well.

Important questions such as if somebody didn't like soup while the other one did, could instantly kill any type of friendship or relationship if you ask me. @Tesseract can confirm that, too.

Hilarious response :) And yea so far seems like even though there are guys that don't want kids, there are 0 women that don't want them. Any particular reason?

I didn't say I did nor that I didn't. Becoming a mother is a different and a whole new type of experience for many women than for guys if you think about it.
Just think about the majority of little girls who play and take care of barbie dolls from the moment they're born, finding joy in what they are doing. Meanwhile little boys are preferring cars and legos.

I don't really see the benefit in my case. I had to deal with 2 more siblings being born (after I was already done with high school at the time so old enough) and all it meant is nerve-wracking screaming that you can't block out, no sleep at night and a whole lot of wasted time having to babysit them. On top of that, there would be the constant need to change them, all the expenses around raising them, no free time or privacy and the list goes on.

It requires commitment and responsibility, that's for sure. Similarly to cars. You cannot just leave them anywhere unlocked, you need to get them checked from time to time and even fix parts if needed. Not to mention, they're hell of a lot of money as well. What it all comes down to is not the shitty diapers, not the deflated tyres and nor the sleepless nights. They won't be enough to outweigh the experience, memories and joy even if they can be exhausting sometimes.

You don't have to take care of a car 20h a day, change oil every 3 hours and listen to revving engine in the middle of the night :)

As time goes by that little kid will one day grow up and hopefully take care of you when no one else will be around, while the little car will require more of your time as its condition will only get worse by each year as it becomes older, not to mention it will give no damn of how you feel unless you're Knight Rider.

Kids these days are spoiled brats that don't give a shit about you anyway :) No matter how you raise them, other kids at school will ruin them immediately. Overall they are more trouble than they are worth.

If I wanted something to take care of I'd get a dog as well. Overall they are much less maintenance and a lot more fun to be around.
