The meta for assassin weapons is usually dagger / sword. However, i would recommend dual swords. Here's why.

Daggers in general have a slightly faster attack speed than swords and a higher crit rate. The stats vary from item to item but that's a general rule... Faster attack, higher crit.

The sword is slower but has a higher physical damage stat.

If you change between sword and dagger to dagger and sword you'll notice that your base skill damage will decrease slightly when the dagger is in your primary slot, but your auto attack damage will be higher because of your sword.

In the current state of the game, assassin weaving doesn't work so well so I would suggest building the highest crit rate and attack power build that you can and avoid relying on weaving for damage output.

Just my thoughts though. I don't main assassin but i used to have a mini in 5.3 and i had a PvP sin in retail.

(OLD TIMES) Players used to go dual sword on sin, during old times when they had no chance to kill a plate/chain class alone due to the lack of buff&attack-skills dmg, stuns and survability. All in all, we are talking about 80-100 dmg on more per skill while attack speed was significantly decreased along with crit rate. This way was used mostly by very low ping players with a good gear which gave them higher crit stats compared to other players. In additional old times, godstones weren't that famous and easy to get, so sin was left to 2 silence skills (20 seconds signet+another 5-6 sec silence) and 1 blind only for all the fight. That's why most of S/S players, used to play with silence/blind while D/D dual para and D/S (para/silence or para/blind). Try to read forums to have a better idea.
The majority of sins have chosen D/S path for obvious reasons (cap attack speed and balanced crit/dmg output). Dagger is 1 fast hit while Sword is 1 normal hit type, which means: even though you have cap attack speed (0.8) you still will be affected by this. Damage skills plus auto attacks (weaving included) will be slightly slower compared to dual Dagger users.
Since 7.0, the only difference between Sword and Dagger is the Weapon DMG and not more the crit RATE and STAT. I've tested both ways and about dmg D/S deals around 100-160 (160-180 when crit) on more compared to D/D. NOTICE: obviously certain attacking-dmg skills are lended with left hand so speed lenght changes as well...
I suggest you to check and verify with DPSMeter (check on google), the time it needs to lend all the attacks (auto attacks plus dmg-skills, ) using all the 3 combinations. Take in consideration that during a fight, there are ALWAYS lag spikes (even for low ping players...if normally a player has 30-35-40ms, during a fight/moving/running, ping will be 35-50-40-45-30-45 (due to connection and quick fps changes) which means, there will obviously be a variation on the general lending time (common delay). Considering that, if the "enemy" player is moving/running around while lagging (while you're not), you will surely have some problems in lending certain skills. For example, and as always happens, you may not be able to lend a chain attack because the enemy in that frame of time is a bit out of your range like 1-2m, putting you in trouble because you may not be able to stun, poison, heal, apply an altered states (which can help to cover silence/blind) for that time. Therefore, in a sort of way, you're in disadvantage and risking to lose the fight (this obviously applies to all classes, players and situations).
Stating this, if you're going to be a D/D user, there is a slightly better chance you may lend certain skills faster than D/S along with some AA (auto-attacks) between chains (weaving) which surely helps even in 7.X patch (as sin, if you're using Scoundrel Bond, Apply Lethal Venom, Deadly Focus, Devotion while AAing you'll notice a consistent difference in dmg output). "Little" important secret: auto-attacks during chains (weaving) increase the amount of crits lended and the chance to crit an attacking-dmg skill is a bit more (we are talking about RNG) giving more chance to lend critical hits on attack-dmg skills (which deal more dmg than AA).
With all these reasons, i would say D/D is a bit better than D/S because (again) it surely helps lending certain skills a bit faster and giving an higher amount of AAs and critical hits during the fight.
Ah, and well D/D is way more stylish than D/S...i really suggest you to check yourself with dpsMeter or try to find a video on YouTube. Verify yourself there is a time difference lending a chain/combo (without AAs = try to push the key like a mad without program since i think if here you're caught, you may be banned) first using D/D and then D/S...

That's a lot to read but i would like to reiterate that weaving is broken right now since auto attack damage isn't as high as it should be. Certainly it does add a little damage, but it's not enough to really make a difference in a fight as far as I've seen.

I would agree that D/D is stylish but the dps when skilling will be higher with S/S when using all available buffs (attk speed included) since as you said, there is an attack speed cap as well as some lag.

Test for yourself to determine the best build and also each player has different gear available and different preferences. Just play around and see what you like best. :p

Is not broken...just a bit nerfed but still makes the difference if you're timed. In 7.5 flurry will give 1500 physical attack and 1500 crit strike (corrected) for 30 sec. Imagine a sin using some crit manastones plus flurry and weaving...just imagine.
Sin right now is one of the highest dps classes (painter, sorc/at, sm, glad, gun....) but the only class which has nice CCs which give you time to outdps/burst any enemy if well played. Doesn't need S/S, even with dual Dagger can nuke plates right now.

If you're waiting to use skills to weave right now, you're losing dps. Check your numbers on skill burst over weave damage.

Yes . Assassin is high dps. I don't think anyone disagrees. But if you have to ask what weapons are better like this guy did, you don't have the best gear yet... He probably isn't geared like you are and needs to min max his build until he has the best gear.

I don't think you've read what i wrote, and i'm pretty sure you've not played sin yet.
Assuming, gear diffrence won't change things...if i would be ancient and the enemy with lege i would still use D/D or D/S, even if you're going to use S/S you won't be able to kill the enemy which has a better gear anyway.

I gave my opinions, up to you players, anyway.

Very funny. You're wrong though... That's fine though, i know you probably weren't around when i played an assassin last patch and i know i don't know you from retail Aion so you wouldn't recognize my assassin from there either, and that's okay.

Everyone has their own preference and opinion. You have yours and i have mine. I just know from experience that what you said is true... Daggers are a great option. Dagger and sword combo is faster. Sword sword does more base damage. That's great... But right now, integrating weaving inbetween your skills makes your skill use slower which reduces your dps slightly because auto attack does less damage than it should.

If you aren't REALLY GOOD at weaving and skill combinations, you will be BETTER OFF just using skills and using swords for their increased base dps. Since the guy who made the thread is asking for advice I'm guessing he isn't a professional assassin like you are, and so focusing on using the correct skills in PvP will be more important than trying to weave.

AionDPSMeter...check yourself. If you want to make things easier test in on a simply gear server and use that program, you can monitorize everything and verify the dmg difference. Not bannable on any aion server anyway...shouldn't even be bannable here. If you played retail, you should know that program and you should know what ahk is.

DPS meter yes. I haven't had a use for it yet this patch since it's pretty obvious what works and what doesn't.

Do whatever you wanna do though man. I'm just here to talk about assassin weapon combinations, not the min max dps rabbit hole. You can write a book though if you want to

Tl;dr double dagger is the way to go. With all the physical attack buffs sins have, it is a no brainer to go for the fastest weapons with the highest crit multiplier at x2.3.

Dagger on main hand and sword on the other is okish. But i wouldnt sacrifice attack speed for 100 more weapon attack. Regardless, you should figure out what works the best for YOU. Considering ping and playstyle.
