if you are new to Black Desert Online its highly recommended that you follow the Black Spirit main story. it will take you through everything you need to learn, as well as give you a lot of valuable (for your current position) rewards. don't worry about levelling fast, this is a high rate server, you will level up very fast just by doing the main story.

don't skip the main story and just go to grinding. do it at least on one character once. you can drop it once you get to a certain point (after Valencia), but its better to do the initial stuff.

once you've done that, it will open up many places that you can grind for exp and silver.

Go to Cron Stone Castle, killing the soldiers there gives you a lot of exp and super ez. I always level up all my characters to lv 53~54 in there. It normally takes me around 1~1.5 hour to reach 53~54. I do use exp buff and Simple Cron Meal in the reward section. The meal is given daily so as the exp buff, but the exp buff only available before you reach 54 or 55 (I forgot already).

I don't know how new you are, just in case you don't know where is the "reward section" I mentioned, you can press 'P' on your keyboard, click Challenge tab and look down one line, you can see the Reward section. Scrolling down, you can find the things I mentioned.

Still recommend you to do as many main quests as possible.
When you reach to lvl 55, also in the Reward section, you are given a weapon box containing a +15 Liverto weapon. Open it and it'll give you a decent weapon of your class to start with. This box can only be claimed once per family. That mean no matter how many characters you create within the same account, you can only claim it one time, so think carefully which character you want to proceed, because this weapon may follow you at least to Calpheon if you know how to make silver, or at most to Altinova if you are super new to this game.

Also, just do side quests that give you inventory slots. I find it useful but when you play this game long enough, inventory slots are not a problem since you can buy them on the Pearl Shop. Other side quests, don't let it bother you, you'll find it so boring and wanna give up. I did many times so... LOL.

About grinding for silver, everyone has different ways to make it, but it's all down to selling stuff on the market. You can check on the market which item is expensive and you can find the drop location to farm for it using Menu -> Item Drop. But since your gear score is low, the easier (but slower) way is to do life skills. Training is my favorite. Technically you sit on a horse, make a loop route on the map, let the horse run back and forth automatically until it reaches max level while you're afk, try to catch another horse in the wild, train it the same way, then breed them, then sell them (Imperial Delivery), and do it over again.

Finally, the mobs you're killing are at low level zone, they don't drop any special item. That's why you need your gears to be good enough to move to better zone. The drop rate in this server is high but rare items are still rare. Killing 1 hour with luck you may get up to 3 boss gears or nothing, so it's not uncommon to see mobs you killed don't give you anything but trash.

buy yourself a green main hand wp and a sub wp to get you AP to around 55~60, Cron Castle is the best place. Killing those soldier is so ez and give you a lot more exp than Orc and even Helm. It's funny that at Helm's post, you need your gear at least 90 AP to be able to damage them but the exp you get is not even close to Cron Castle soldiers.

This was exactly the advice I was going to give you :)

It is fair that some players do not care for the actual PvE game, or the way the game is made in general, but still for new players to the game, the best thing to do is to take the game as it is, put in the relatively moderate amount of work and do the main-quest-line, as the rewards are well worth it, as well as showing you the game world and it opens up a whole lot of other well worth it quests.
