Shooting beehives with practice matchlock?

Does anyone else have any issues completing 'Shoot and help" for the Delucci woman?
In the quest, you are asked to rent (though the game says 'lend me'..wtf?) a practice matchlock.

I've shot the damn thing for about 30 minutes, and it keeps saying 'immune' with full health.

Anyone have any ideas here? I've just seen someone else do it, so I know it can be done. And yes, I am aiming at the crosshairs. And even if I hadn't been, it would have been possible since I just killed a boar with the practice matchlock.

Anyway, I fixed the problem myself, I have to shoot above, not below.

I'm going to stick to the regular forums, and I dont think I'll be donating anymore.
