have you tried checking your DirectX version?

 

You're probably using wrong resolution, try to change it to windowed mode and default graphics, it should work.

I had this as well when using the High Graphics engine. Try full screen windowed mode as well and if not, might have to just use the regular graphic engine.

 

A week or so ago, everything was fine with my graphics and resolution settings, but at some point this problem started. I hadn't updated the operating system, the graphics card drivers, and certainly not DirectX.

 

I feel the pain you are experiencing right now. This is sad
