What can gm's do against dupers??

I am just wondering after seeing some suspicious messages at the globalchatrooms: do GM watch those channels and maybe check the players advertising players for duped items (if that is even possible)?

Because when i see players sell something like 3x "Bollvig's Love" then all i can think is: you are a duper or really stupid (imo only stupid ppl will buy 3 the same godstones for 3k credits and then try to sell them) :sleeping:

So: Is it possible to catch dupers via global chats (notice suspicios players and then check them out)?? :innocent:

 

Not sure about the other gms, but i personally keep the lfg and trade chats open. And i do actually look for them, not so much for dupers, but b/c iv seen ppl say "_______ is flying or hacking or whatever" and then thats my top priority at that moment.

 

I understand the battle against hackers, but "duping" is not high on the prioritylist?? :sad:

 

oh it is, but its much easier to catch some1 hacking or flying in lfg or trade than dupes

 

Duping is high on my priority list and I have a rather strict attitude towards the practice of duping and buying/reselling duped items. I do watch /1 and /3 for suspicious messages. I check every player I teleport for dying and trading. I check players I jail for flying. I basically check everyone for duped items, even random people I see running by.

If I see a small quantity of things like a couple medals, I just remove them. If I see hundreds of things, I ban on sight.

Ok, but the scary part of that ofcourse that you may jump to the wrong conclusions: for example, i have hundreds of manastones and certain materials, but none of them are duped.

Can you actually see if an item is duped or not? Because afaik Gamez uses a script that is able to "see" such things (it removes dupes when relogging). So i assume a GM can see that too?

 

by 100s of things, i assume she ment medals, most other things arnt duped, though some are

 

A: "Some" GM events rewards involve medals.....99% time its a single medal.

B: My legion killed the Diety in Divine Fort, i would say about 3 weeks ago, and recieved 1x Gold and 2x Silver medals as loot. (I do have a SS of that if your interested)

So in the case with Medals my problem is with the low end of the spectrum.....because it would take ALONG time to collect enough medals to use them at the Abyss NPCs, So some ppl would have a small amount of LEGIT medals and would fall victim to such an act.

Now in the case that someone has hundreds of medals then, well yes of course, it would warrant an investigation. Since it is difficult to obtain such a mass amount.

 

Most trades in global chats are about items that are only available via donationshop... again, when i see 1 player selling 3x the same godstone (bollvigs love) then all my alarms go off, because (imo) it is not very smart to spend 3k credits on that.

But if i understand this correctly it is judged on type of item + quantity?? So GM's can not see when something is duped or not?? :crying:

 

Manastones I don't care about. I start throwing ban hammers around when I see hundreds of medals, godstones, etc.

 

Do you guys IP ban or account ban? I must say simply account banning would be rather pointless with these rates here.

 

the most funny thing to see is ppl selling EGT set. come on. the only way to get EGT on this server is to buy the set from npc in game with medals (if im not mistaken) , since credit store only sells EAT (asmo version). not saying every EGT is but its high chance

 

IP bans only affect players who play from internet cafes. The vast majority of IPs are dynamic, and you only need to unplug your modem to change it. It did nothing to stop hackers and only brought on a hoarde of Pinoys raging at us for banning lots of innocent players by proxy. Hence why we only ban accounts now.

If I see EGT items, I'm deleting them.

 

I have my bow remodelled to EGT look. Well it's not EGT it's called Wealthy Longbow.
I bought 20x Gold Medals with 500 credits and bought that Wealthy Longbow. When I was posting in WTB section, people say I'll never get 20X Gold Medals, if I do they're all duped. But I got! And they're not duped!

Would you consider 20X Gold Medals to be overly suspicious? I agree it's a a risky policy.

 

i personally just ban his account. be cause i consider that cheat agains the normal players, abussers etc, its easy (Banned).

I would have just deleted them on sight. I am aware that people buy the things from dupers.

But its moot now. All gold medals have been destroyed.

 

I hope you didnt get angry at my 2000 Healing Potions or 100s of Scrolls

 

nah...only if you have 2000 recovery crystals...
