    Have you followed my guide?
    http://forum.gameznetwork.com/showthread.php?t=30684

Someone posted an error log which indicated that either they do not have Admin rights on their PC, so they need to run as Admin or ensure the permissions are set right in the Control Panel.

    OR

They have some firewall/anti virus software blocking that certain file which did not allow them to access the file.

If other XP users were able to follow the guide and have it work, then i am guessing it is your fault it is not working, which also means that no item.pak will be released only for XP users.

Just ensure you are doing the correct steps to make this work.

Although my guide is based on the Win7 OS, I dont expect everyone to be using the same OS and if i was using XP i would just do the equivilent of what was going on in the steps/video.

yea weird that some people are able to get it to work and others not so much, ive did the whole excahnge out the bin folder but that doesnt work either, the 1.9 item pak worked fine for me the first time around and this i just cant figure out whats wrong, i was gonna do a fresh new install directly from the ncsoft launcher ( makes me mad i paid for retail when it first came out ) anywho i cant do a fresh install because it says i lack the space, which i already know but cant do much about now, hard drive crashed and using one from a scraped machine 30gb one ( lol big enough for aion only).

this is what ive did so far, extracted to desktop put the items.pak in the aion/data/usa/items folder and npcs.pak in the aion/data/usa/npcs folder. i have also deleted the USA folder put the items and npcs folders directly in the data folder. and last but not least ran as admin EVERYTIME and still nothing. i have 3 machines running xp and all three are doing the exact same error when i replace the files with the new files.

So my question is to all the xp users out there what version of xp are you runnin? home edition, professional ? which service pack. did it work the first time for you or did you have to tweek it a little bit?

    Sweet, a detailed reply ^^

I assume you are using the US version of the title and your launcher is set to North America?

You say you are able to play without the new item.pak yes? but when you try using the new item.pak you get a crash upon loading?

Are you items/npc folders named as

'items' and 'npcs' not 'Item' and 'Npcs'

(i am not at my computer so the npc folder might be named 'npc' rather than 'npcs' but i am refering to the capital letter)

If you are using the US version then dont delete the USA folder, you need that for your version, also the item.pak and npc.pak needs to go in the 'items' and npc' folder.

My PC tried to add folders within folders, so it went items>Data>USA>items> then my item.pak.

    This is not needed.

Same problem here. I have 2 XP computers, both worked perfectly with 1.9 + custom items.pack, but after the 2.0 upgrade one works but the other crashes at start up (with exactly the same 2.0.0.3 files + the new items.pak + npc.pak whatever, I checked). However, the one that crashes works very well if I just restore the original versions of these files.

IMO it's clear that that the 2.0 items pack replacement fails on some PCs. (That is, besides the big FAIL that it does no longer allow trading of the untradeables, though that seems to be a new gamez policy failure)

You're joking right? I've tried everything but throwing my computer out the window and nothing working with the new itempak. Odd how the NCsoft itempak works great and the gamezaion pak doesn't? what's that all about? the gamez pak has something or is missing something that the NCsoft pak has that allows it to work on my machine.

I'm just playing without a new item pak since the game works without their modified pak. I don't know what features I'm missing if I don't use it, but game seems to run great and I haven't been blocked from any functions that I know of. Then again I don't have any abg stuff that everyone seems so concerned about.

And oh by the way, I don't use the EU version so I don't see how not being able to get my comp to use the edited pak is my fault. I see how you say it is the OP fault that they can't get their's to work. How arrogant is that?

you can't trade with the new item.pak only put the untradables in your account warehouse so you can swap with your alt chars
i don't know if you can still dye(i'm not gonna buy f4cking over-over-over-overpriced dyes from broker, which they buy from AM 50m and selling them for even 1b) or if you can still remodel

Well it just kills me that this guy says it's your fault for not getting it to work his way. I appreciate his effort and all and he made a nice guide and all. FOR EU USERS TO FIX.

How can it be any USA user fault that they can't get his EU FIX TO WORK.

Then says there won't be any special fix for anyone coz he has this amazing guide FOR EU USERS TO FIX. So I suppose he must be saying that USA users don't matter.

There are 2 guides already up for US users, if you took the time to read my thread you would know this.

The item.pak works for XP users, there are players out there that have done it, therefore the only conclusion is that you, the person behind the keyboard is doing something wrong, trust me.

9 out of 10 times it is always human error.

Also, you seem to be getting angry that for the past 4 days i have been on this forum helping others fix their issues, 4 days!

Not 1 minute to myself so i can help people, so before you go bashing me and mis-reading what i write, please take the time to actually read my thread which clearly indicates 2 other threads made for US users.

I dont take kindly to people bashing me when all i am trying to do is help.

Dude what are you on about? I'm not trying to bash you really. And I said in my post that I appreciate all you've done to try and help people.

I'M JUST SAYING THAT YOUR EU FIX DOESN'T HELP ME AND IT'S NOT MY FAULT.

9 out of 10 people that try to help are always certain that 9 out 10 people behind the keyboard are wrong and can't follow instructions.

AND IT IS ALWAYS HUMAN HELPER FIX POSTER ERROR

I read your post thoroughly it's all about EU clients. And the links you have posted to other threads, one is a video walkthrough of a monkey copy/pasting the files to the folders. So it's very insulting to think that I don't know how to copy/paste or follow the OFFICIAL download/installation instructions for the edited pak.
The second link is another copy/paste walkthrough and it's like all the others.

Like I said I appreciate all your efforts, but to come in here and say it's my fault that I can't get any of the fixes to work IS WRONG, AND ARROGANT WHEN IT'S OBVIOUSLY AN ERROR IN THE EDITED ITEM.PAK

Ok this might do nothing, but change the folder names to 'items' and 'npcs'

---------- Post added at 03:33 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:31 PM ----------

You are incorrect, how can other XP users get theirs to work and you can't?

Upload your screenie and i can try and help you, and my guide shouldnt work for you because it is for EU users, thought you would be able to understand that.
