In response to what Raiken posted, I'd like to express some of my opinion. I know I could have posted a reply but I have a lot to say so here it is:

When you have GMs who also play on normal accounts u get all these "corruption" issues. I was GM on a few private servers before so I can attest to that. It's kinda hard to avoid for a few reasons. Firstly, all GMs work for free, so if they don't have playable characters it kinda wipe out the incentive to be a GM. Secondly, it's hard to enforce a rule whereby GMs can only have GM accounts. U sure that GM won't make a playable account in secret? You gonna check his/her IP every now and then?

So then, being a GM totally take out the fun from gaming. You suddenly get everything you wanted and now u start to service a community. (If I may add, a community with many noobs; Idk why but that's the case with private servers) You get stupid PMs all the time, people fall for dumb scams all the time and you can't even tell if they're faking it.

So at 1st you'll be pretty enthusiastic about hosting event and having people kissing your butt telling ya how much they love ya. And slowly logging on become a chore. Events gets old and cold. Problems start to surface and people QQ at ya and all of a sudden, you realized it isn't fun at all.

I would prefer a system whereby GMs work on shifts so they can take breaks. Hire new bloods constantly so that they're always enthusiastic about hosting events and helping people. Also, I personally just think that age plays an important role. Kids troll on this server all day long, and if you have a kiddo GM who gets defensive very easily then, oh boy, there's gonna be drama. On the other hand, if the GM is mature, 20+ or even 30+, he's not gonna react to flames too defensively. You know after all it's the internet! Chill out!

When the server population gets unhappy, it's making a strong statement about how much the admins care. It all boils down to how much attention the admin gives to the server.

With all that being said, I would say that some levels of "corruption" is tolerable; but don't get overboard. There's a clear line between what is being a nice person and what is just down right power abuse.

Remember you're just playing a video game. Even worse, on a private server where the admin can close it the next day and everyone can't say shet. It is important that you enjoy the social experience in this online game, the friendships that you build and funny conversations that you can remember. Don't QQ about equips being untradable, don't put too much attention onto farming credits/ABGs/AP or whatever.

GMs leaves and throw an emo rage? Take it easy, life goes on. And like Raiken said, no one wants to see these dramas. While it's nice to see new AM trainees, I remain cynical on how long their passion can last. You gotta keep in mind that it's gonna be a boring job in the long run and right now you're dealing with a pretty unhappy community.

To quote from an old GM who left. (I won't name names)

"Free stuffs be damned!" Your GM account goes beyond those outfits that normal players can't obtain. Hope all GMs see what I mean. Enjoy your community, enjoy your social experience, and remember you're volunteering out of passion for this server.

    Just my 2-cents

My Siel GM cleric was level 54 with a miragents set on, free items what? :/

When you sign up to be a GM, you should accept the responsibilities with it. If you don't find the thought of being a GM fun, then I wouldn't bother with it, you'll only grow impatient and tired.

If you're only doing it for the 'free items' don't bother either, they're only for your GM character, you don't get anything for your legit characters.

There are people who want to be GMs for the fancy name/free items and the ones who want to serve the community and help.

The first ones will lose their enthusiasm after 1 month.

The seconds ones will keep helping and will be making the community better day by day w/o gettinf tired.

GMs are ment to be respected coz they sucrifise their free time for the community :)

Browsed through some of the GM applications when I was bored and really you can see from them the level of interest people have on being a GM. There's the guys that genuinely have it in them to help the community, help the game to get better (or they are very good at writing ;)). But a lot of the applications clearly say "I want to be GM for the sake of being GM, screw responsibilities, I just want the power to ban all who defeat me in PVP".

And while I have my moments of gritting my teeth in frustration over GM activity, I always remember that they too are just humans (well dunno about Alente.. sleep deprivation much?).
