Forum Guide

Well, given we've gotten a forum update. And lots of things have changed, the first version is pretty darn outdated.

Anyways, what mostly changed in the update, is pretty much the look. Functions are still the same, but also have different looks. And some functions got added, some got improved and the usual update yada.

First thing's first, as usual, is reading the rules. Link -> http://forum.gameznetwork.com/misc.php?do=vsarules

Task Bar

Now, first. We introduce you to the new task bar.

- Notifications - whenever you have some, click on it will open a drop-down menu and you'll see all the updates. Such as visitor message, group invites, friend invites, private messages and the likes.
- My Profile leads you to your profile. For you to edit and change how you deem fit.
- Settings leads you to your UserCP. You can edit your settings and the likes here.

- GamezNetwork or Forum leads you to the index page of the forums.
- What's New? or New Posts leads you to a summary of the latest posts, visistor messages, group updates, and the likes that have been made since you logged out, or AFK'd for a period of time.
- FAQ shows you the default 'Frequently Asked Questions' guide, provided by the forums.
- Calendar, shows you a huge calendar with everyone's birthdays written on it, and special events that may have been added by other members, moderators and of course admins(Rarely gets done)
-Community is a drop down menu. More info about this later on.
-Forum Actions is also a drop down menu. More info about this later on, as well.
-Quick Links is also another drop down menu. More info about this later on, as well.

-Groups shows you a summary of all the groups, that you can join, apply to join, and if you're into some groups, you can access them to see what's new.
-My Albums goes to the album section, of the ones you've uploaded, or that others have posted.
-Friends & Contacts - self explanatory - shows your friends and contacts that you've made on these forums
-Member List goes to a list of members for you go browse through. To search and stuff.
-ChatBox allows you to visit the forum chat box and chat with other forum members.

-Mark Forums Read - This is obvious. It marks every forum read. When you go to the 'What's New' function, it will be empty after marking them read. Until new threads/posts get made.
-General Settings - Leads to your UserCP to edit your settings.
-Edit Profile - Leads to your UserCP as well, lol. Here you edit your age, location, interest and the likes for other people to see when they visit your profile.

-Subscribed Threads -Shows you to which threads you're subscribed. It's a really helpful thing when you wanna keep up to date with certain threads. Teach you how later on.
-Open Contacts Pop-up - Shows you your contacts(not friends), but the people you have as your contacts. Shows you who's online or not, and allows you to PM them.
-View Forum Leaders - A list with who has powers over the forums. In our case. Moderators, GMs, Admins.

How to Search

Since we're all renewed and stuff, the whole searching deal has changed as well. Being much more easier actually and efficient now.

The text box on the picture is where you need to write whatever you're looking for.

Like for example, if you wanna know what the hell I've done ever since I've been around on the forums. Merely type in my name. Type in "Cropolite" in the text box and click go! You'll find all recent threads where I've posted in, or visitor messages where I've been mentioned. Groups I've been mentioned and the likes. But, that's of course looking for a member.

If you're looking for something specific. Like.. You've lost an ABG sword for instance. Then you click on Advanced Search.



For the search types, go with All Types. To broaden the search as wide as possible.
For the keywords, you type ABG Sword Lost. In order to have a logical search, and so it matches well with whichever post that's related to it.
Then you Search! You'll have to browse through the results of course, cause it won't always be right in front of you, and in case you don't find it. You create a topic asking for help.

So, basically. You search stuff before creating threads, in order to not have multiple threads about the same thing. It keeps the forums organized, and running smoothly cause it doesn't have to hold too many stuff in it's memory.

Nice thread, when reading the title I was like, oh yay...a thread tell us how to use the forum...but after reading it, it is a very well put together guide that should help heaps of people.

A suggestion, add a bit on images so people know how to upload them and use them on the forums.
