The question almost every gamer or computer user has had in the back of their mind.

    WHICH IS BETTER?
    [IMG] [IMG]

To save all sorts of argumentitive debate on which proccesing

company is better, i'll make this as simple as i can.

How can we say that "oh intel is so much better than

amd" or "AMD is better intel sucks"? This sort of

debatable attitude is all completely wrong.

What we CAN say is that AMD and Intel have their pros

    and cons.

AMD and Intel companies are ALWAYS producing new

and better products. So its not as simple as saying "this

    proccessor company is better"

The two companies do a thing called "leapfrogging". This

means that each company creates small strong points in

where they can outbeat their competitors.

In the past technological years, the idea of one

proccesor having more GHZ than the competitor ment

that was the fastest proccesor to get. In this day, that

is not the case. There are many different aspects

incorperated with chosing the proccesor of your desire.

For example, one proccesor may have more cores than

the competitor, but then on the other hand, the

competitors proccesor may have better features and

    faster proccesing.

Chosing a proccesor simply comes down to your needs.

For example, if you want to build a gaming rig, and you

want to use dual SLI graphics cards for Nvidia or if you

want to run crossfire with dual graphics cards from ATI,

each CPU has compatable motherboards that allow

certian functions. With intel, you can get an x58 mobo or

a p55 mobo and you can run either SLI or Crossfire.

Hence, giving you more future compatibility for when you

decide to change card manufactures. AMD in most cases

their mobos can only support crossfire high end graphic

    cards.

There will be of course the "bottle necking" effect with

chosing proccesors. One company may have some great

feature that you enjoy very much but then realize that

the other competitor has a newer feature that seems

more user friendly. You must understand that you will

have to chose to sacrifice some features to get a

    proccesor.

Many other properties inflict performance from

proccesors. First, your overall RAM and the speed of it

and how many channels it has. Also the motherboard

you chose must fit the needs of your computing lifestyle.

Low end motherboards will not allow max performance

from the mother board. High end mother boards maxes

    out performance from the CPUs.

One of the main things in chosing proccesors is your

budget. In computer technology, you pay for what you

get. BUT this doesnt always mean that buying a cheap

proccesor means you will get cheap performance. It all

depends on what your needs are and your personal

preferences are. If you are going to be making a home

theatre/media center PC and you are on a budget, go

with AMD, if you have tons of money and expect near

    flawless performance, go with intel.

For gaming, AMD has always had its fare share in

performance with the modern games. AMD shows great

performance using single programs rather than multi

tasking. AMD also has made great CPUs that are

becoming an overclockers dream toy. AMD is very simple

    to overclock.

Intel has been a gamers favorite and high end

companies choice of CPU simply because of the

performance from the price. The high end CPUs really

show their performance for the money people pay.

With the high end proccesors, there is really no

noticable dramatic difference between the two

    companies in performance.

It all comes down to the individual products.

NOW FOR THE PROS AND CONS AND EQUALS

    PROS:

    Budget friendly
High quality in high end CPUs
    Run high end graphic cards
    Great onboard motherboard chipsets
    Perfect for single application use.
    Great for gaming.
    Easy overclocking
    Constant production for better product

    CONS:

    Low end performance
    Overheat in some cases.
    Product production lack
    Uses more power.
Limited dual graphic card useage. (crossfire)

    PROS:

    High end performance all around
    Hyper threading Technology
    Core usage technology
    SLI and Crossfire capable
i3 i5 i7 CPU have integrated graphics chipset in the CPU itself.
Large variety of cpu line up
Used in most high end buisiness companies.
    Runs cool
    Speed

    CONS:

    High price
Requires more cycles to execute many instructions

    [IMG][IMG]

    EQUALITY:

    Run at high clock speeds.
    Performance ratio if overclocked
    user friendly
    multiple cores
    constant production
stick up with the latest applications and production.

    I love AMD's price, and Intel's temp. I can't really deal with AMD's heat.

i go for inter for its reliability...won't just quit on you coz of overheating and other electronic devices issues..i do a lot of multitasking so i really need the extra processing...haven't had any problems...easy to upgrade since hardwares are compatible with almost everything...i have a 3 year old pc and the only time i had to upgrade is this year..it's only because i want a better gaming experience..not that i am having problems with gaming...i just want it to be the best...xD

well amd is great for ppl with budget, not too extreme for gaming with factory clock (overclocked pretty great performance)

    Intel for extreme... anything lol.

my AMD runs stable at 27 degrees celsius and around 50 full stressed.
Alot of people just dont know how to cool there system properly.

And in fact. I have a AMD Quad core running now and i think it runs smoother then my previous i7 CPU

EDIT: Forgot to say that i overclocked my Phenom X4 965 to 4Ghz now xD so temps are higher now indeed. but still in very "Safe" conditions

yup yup, like i said, all depends on what you do and how you use it. so many aspects are involved in performance. good cooling, good mobo, good ram.

you're getting those red boxes "replace me" because the texture is broken. Try repairing your cleint. also try updating your graphics card drivers.

probably true since you live on a cold place...our country doesn't have the same luxury..maybe if you can put an AC on your computer, then that will work for us here..wait...i have an AC...maybe i should try AMD...[IMG]

Correct. i had my i7 with some cheap as memory since prices are huge on intel's side and memory

Now i got my AMD and im using Geil Black dragon Edition(8Gb total) with a latency of 6 for the same price as when i had 4 Gb of Latency 9 memory with intel.

So price is indeed a very high factor here.

This is why i get so tired of people saying "AMD sucks!" or "Intel sucks"

with a little brains, you can rule the world ;]

if you like AMD, check this overclocking out. ;]
6.5 GHZ and then recently beat the record with 7ghz. -150 C liquid helium cooling.

I like AMD, prices are nice and my 955 runs cooler on full load then a i7 on stock. Plus for what i do, an i7 is just overkill. Not to mention it was like 150-200 dollars cheaper.
